Question about Chevrolet Chevy
I just rebuilt the turbo 350 in my pickup and have no reverse gear. When I shift into reverse the output spins but will not move the truck. It will move forward but does not seem to shift automatically. I have disassembled the trans a second time and it seems correct but obviously I am missing something. Any testing I can do? Any possibility it is in the valve body?

It is a very common issue If you have a 4L60E, you may have a problem with the valve body. As the valves bores get worn hydraulic pressure is compromised, there are fixes out there for this transmission, check out www.sonnax.com they have many parts to help resolve the transmission of these problems. Also you should check or replace your separator plate as sometimes the check balls that regulate the hydraulics of the transmission become stuck onto the plate. I've done quite a few of this model transmission and its almost always the valve body problem. HOWEVER FIRST CHECK YOUR FLUID CONDITION, if the fluid is good and there isn't a large amount of debris in the pan you should try to either get a new valve body or have your rebuilt with the parts from sonnax that eliminate these hard shift problems.

There isn't a modulator on this trans as it is electronic
You can have first gear going forwrd but no reverse. It is possible. The low/ reverse clutch isn't needed to go forward.
