1994 GMC Sierra wont start when at operating temp.starts fine cold!

Truck will not start when at operating temp. Starts fine when cold almost acts like its flooding itself out..will start if you depress accelerator all the way to the floor! Visually it is getting plenty of fuel! Replace Distributor, coil, wires, control module, fuel filter.(fuel pump new 1yr)....

Hey Denny, good call, these are rebuildable I believe on the TBI units too. Definitely something to check.

Have the computer scanned to determine failure codes

Stop throwing parts at it. Have someone diagnose it properly...check the coolant temp sensor with a scanner against ambient when it's cold in the morning and then when it's warmed up. Check the MAP as well.

sounds likes its getting a RICH mixture of fuel all the time. When COLD would be proper , but at operating temps should be a MUCH LEANER fuel mixture.Aby " service or check engine lights on ?

Motor starts then dies several times when cold

Sounds like the cold start solenoid. It is designed to keep the engine running at a set RPM until it reaches a specific engine temp.

Im guessing it's a 4.3 L engine. Sounds like your coil is acting up when the truck heats up. Bad coil, or small wires going to the coil
