My 1991 toyota 4runner keeps blowing the efi fuse and my engine floods gas. what could be the problem?

Check the EFI main relay, the circuit opening relay, and the fuel pump relay. Inside the fuel pump relay there is a switch controlled by a coil. During start, the fuel pump gets full power for a couple of seconds to build up pressure. Once pressure is good, the fuel pump relay is supposed to switch (via the coil) the fuel pump to reduced power. If the coil in the relay is bad, the reduced power setting is not available and the fuel pump will run at full power all the time. At this heavy current draw, it won't be long until the EFI fuse blows. This would also give more pressure than is necessary to the cold start fuel injector which runs on a timer. This extra pressure during the time that the cold start injector is operating may be the reason the engine is flooding with fuel.

Installed brand new battery on my 1997 4runner and it will turn over but not start. Told it could be fuse to fuel pump. Is there a fuse to the fuel pump. I checked all fuses I can find as well. ...

There is a fuel pump relay. It should be located under the hood in that fuse box. Normally if you flip the lid over on that box it should have everything labeled so you can figure out which one to pull. Hope this helps (please rate good if helpful)

Have 1989 toyota 4 runner with v 6 engine the only way it will get enough power to the fuel pump to run truck is to take the relays out and put them back then the truck will run until you get where you are...

the pump relay is controlled by the fuel pressure regulator
it cuts power to the relay when fuel pressure is maintained
check ti for correct operation

Fuel pump relay location 1997 celica

The relay and fuse is located under the hood in the relay box. It will be labeled on the lid. If fuse is good, then test the relay. Pull it out and with a test light see if there is power. If there is then remember that one. Have some one turn the key on and find another power wire. There should be 2 powers. If there is only one power then there maybe a problem in the ignition switch. If there is 2 powers then you need to get to the top of the fuel tank and see if power is getting to the pump. The power at the pump will be there for only a few seconds once the key is turned on and then will drop off. Let us know how it goes.

1997 toyota 4x4 extra cab no power to fuel pump at harness

Hi I take it that you are using a well grounded test lite and that it is working properly. My very best idea is #1 check relay and or fuse,2nd check continuity of wire ,it may be broken a tester is unexpencive.I would purchase a roll of wire long enough to reach from your battery to the fuel pump plug, attach wire to one male prongs and another as a ground and see if ya get your fuel pump running. Please be carefull of sparks if tank smells of gas.Is the plug contact area clean?I hope ya don't think I'm talking to ya like your a dummie ,not, not, not,I hope this helps you.I own the same truck but an 02 with 60,000 on it 3.4 motor great little trucks,my brother had one 280,000 no problems, just wanted a new one.

I have a 1991 toyota 4runner for some reason the fuel pump is not receiving power when ignition is engaged.

relay or fuse playing up ,just rewire it as this will be easier than trying to find fault .1991 could have an external pump rather than an internal pump and a wiring block corroded out or damaged wire the possibilities are endless
