When you say it won't start do you mean nothing happens when turning the key car won't turn over if so then more than likely your starter is getting bad and when the starter quits spinning it probably stops on a bad spot on the brushes and looses it's connection if that's the case next time vet someone to turn the key while you take a hammer and hit the starter right on the side of the body don't hit the solonoid but if it starts right up then it's the starter going bad replace it.
Pull the distrubitor cap and check for any side to side play at the rotor shaft,a little up and down is ok but any side to side makes the magnet hit the pickup. The top bushings are prone to failure .
Yes it could be the key switch. You would need to check for power at the starter when it fails to crank. There is also a neutral safety switch in the circuit.
fusible link blown ( the BAT one ) how many amps is it first of all and where would i start to look for a short nothing works but head lights + high beams
if you hear clicking at the starter solenoid, then hit the starter with a hammer a few times,if it turns over a little, then either replace the brushes in the starter which is about $20.00 or buy a new rebuilt starter for about $90.00
