Question about 2008 Toyota Highlander

2008 Toyota Highlander Sprt whirring/vibration sound underneath

For several weeks, I will hear one to ten seconds of this sound a few times per drive to work, but not on every drive to work. It can happen at 10 MPH or 60 MPH, whether you are turning or going straight. It happens when it's cold, when it's warm. I haven't been able to pin point any particular thing that brings it on.
The Toyota technician rode with me Friday and heard it. He thought it might be plastic under the vehicle and moved some things around to help. We drove it again, could still here the sound. He worked on it some more but it was pouring down rain, so couldn't tell if the sound went away or not. It has not. It was probably as bad or worse today on my 1.5 hour drive. Does anyone have any ideas??

SOURCE: whats going on

most likely the problem is you have blowby. the oil is coming up past your worn piston oil rings which is causing oil everywheres. start your car and remove the oil dipstick and see if oil comes out. if not you need a engine rebuild or new used motor which would be cheaper in the long run.

SOURCE: With the rear windows down my Highlander vibrates heavily.

You are cupping air in the vehicke. To eliminate it, don't open opposing windows the same amount. If you have the driver's window opened, also open the opposite side rear window. Baffels on the windows will help.

After we flushed tranny and cleaned out gunk, it ran good for a few weeks. now it will run good for about ten minutes, then it will not pull in Drive. is there a solution better than a new tranny?

When you say flushed out the tranny, was this done by flowing fluid through or by removing the transmission pan and draining the oil. has the filter been changed? Is the transmission fluid up to the right level?

What prompts the toyota highlander 2008 maint even after service

the light has to be reset you serviced the car before it was time and the light was not reset then. on the highlander im not sure how to reset it im thinking that all you have to do is turn the key to the on posistion and step on the gas pedal 3 times or you have to push the trip counter in and hold it for 15 seconds if neither one of these works take it to your service center they should be able to reset it for free.

The Highlander (All Wheel Drive version) is a full-time 4 wheel drive vehicle. There are no controls or switches - it is always in four wheel drive mode.

Tire pressure light is on even though all tires are inflated prop

You can reset the TPMS system on your Toyota Highlander. There are instructions in the owner's manual on how to do so. However, resetting the system without checking the cold-air inflation of the tires is not necessarily solving the problem. The recommended tire pressure inflation sticker is located on the driver-side door frame. On the Highlander, it calls for 30 pounds per square inch (psi) of tire pressure per tire, including the full-sized spare. If the Highlander had a donut spare tire, it will not have a TPMS sensor and subsequently will not effect the TPMS system one way or the other. To reset the TPMS system in the Highlander, there is a reset button under the driver-side dashboard that needs to be held for a period of time (a few seconds) while the ignition key is in the "key-on/engine-off" mode. The TPMS warning light will blink rapidly for a few more seconds, and the system will reset itself. Refer to the manual for the exact procedure. If the TPMS warning light reoccurs, have the system or tires checked by a professional. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted. Be glad to help.
