Question about 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

I have a 91 s-10 4.3 blazer. I have converted it from a throttle body to a 4-barrel and I'm trying to do away with the computer. I have replaced the distributor but I am getting no fire. I replaced the dist with a new one from Oreilys and there is a module inside that the guy at Oreilys said not to worry about. I have a good feed but I'm concerned about that module. If anyone can help I will be forever grateful. I have a few $ in this and alot of sweat and no ride. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You install a HEI distributo? If U did U need to feed a switched ign power wire direct to dist. Make sure circuit is fused.

Run away vehicle-99 chevy blazer wants to accelerate to 1500 rpm, braking will bring idle back down. What's problem?

In most cases problems with idle speed involve the idle air control valve or a dirty throttle body. The computer controls idle speed by how much air is allowed into the intake thru the control valve.
If the throttle is not sticking, I would check the valve and the bore of the throttle body.
You could also have a vac leak but that would usually be a constant problem.

How to clean throttle body on 2002 chevy trail blazer. Step by step instructions if possible. Thanks so much

Instructions for doing it without removing the throttle body.

1. Disonnect the battery....very important so your stepper motor isn't ruined when moving the butterfly.
2. Remove the plastic resonator on the top of the engine (The black piece that says 4200 on it)
3. Remove the large rubber hose from the throttle body.
4. Clean away, with throttle body cleaner or Seafoam, I just use the blue shop towels to clean in there. Could use a plastic bristle brush also for more elbow grease. Be very careful, as the butterfly will cut you very easily, very sharp edges. Make sure you get all the gunk out of there, including any edges of gunk that may have formed, preventing the butterfly from opening and closing properly. Needs to be nice and shiny.
5. Hook the resonator and hoses back up, don't forget the little pcv hose on the front right corner of it.
6. Hook the battery back up and drive around for 20 minutes or so with all accesories OFF. The computer will relearn a properly functioning throttle body at that point.
7. Enjoy a little bettery gas mileage and horsepower.

My 2004 trail blazer has codes of 2101 1516 and 601. replaced the throttle body accuator and throttle body. still get the codes but can be erased unless the temp ouside is less than 30 degrees and the...

The code P0601 means the internal memory of the PCM (computer) has failed self-test. The PCM may need to be reflashed or replaced. The other codes will probably go away after this.

Vehicle stalling at traffic stop like im about to run out of gas

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter and clean your throttle body, When cleaning your throttle body pay attention to your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve passage way with is located on the back side to your throttle body air intake barrel.
Just follow the instructions on the spray can of throttle body cleaner and be safe. This should address your stalling issues from a dirty IAC valve.
Thank you for suing Fixya and be safe.
