It is indeed under the trans pan. the trans pan is on the driver side of the car. it should have a fairly large drain bolt in it.

my i suggest that unless this service is absolutely needed that you leave your transmission alone.

chances are that your transmission is already malfunctioning, and if thats the case you will need a new transmission. as fluid changes have no effect on ultradrive transmissions that are malfunctioning.

in fact fluid changes on working ultradrive transmissions have been known to make them non-functional.

AND ONLY USE ATF+4 TRANNY FLUID

I bought my 05 infiniti g35 about 3 years ago, i never had change the transmition fluid. i can not find the filter, i have read that infiniti do not have a transmition filter is that correct?

If your car does have a transmission filter, it will be behind the trans pan. You can remove the trans pan and look but you will have to get sealant and reseal the pan.

How to replace transmission filter

The transmission filter is inside the transmission, you need to drop the trans oil pan to change it.

I need to know where exactly is the trans filter located in the trans on my 2004 nissan maxima.it has a small pan towards the front of the car with about 10 star screws holding it in place, but all that is...

fa6323d.jpgThis is what the gasket looks like.Pan will resemble the gasket. There will only be two pans.Oil is under the engine and trans will be to the rear of that. Well hope this helped.

Fuel Filter Locate

go undernieth your truck and look up at the bottem of it. if it is anything like my truck you will see your drive shaft easily (the things that runs down teh middle of your car from the engine to the back wheels) the transmition pan will be beside that closer to the engine, it looks like abit of a square (odly shaped) and either black or rusty depending on age of truck. the transmition pan will have around 17-20ish bolts holding it up, unscrew this (get an oil pan for all the oil that will come out) and your transmition filter is just under there. hope that helped

Need to change the transmission filter

get your self the right tools, the filter, transmission fluid, gasket, gasket silicon, a good wide drain pan, clean rags, some cleaner to clean out the pan like brake parts cleaner. first find the transmission pan. once located undo the bolts around the pans flange or use the drain plug to drain all the fluid. if it doesnt have a drain plug then you have to take off the pan to drain it, messy! once the pan is off you should be able to see the filter and swap it out. clean out the pan, pan magnent, put your new gasket on and use some silicon, bolt it back on. fill the trans back with new fluid. this is straight forward approach. and dont mix the oil pan with the trans pan. the oil pan is under the motor( if that helps) let me know if you need any help or you dont understand something, thanks

I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan SE 2.4L 4 cylinder motor. I had the transmission flushed almost 2 years ago and since then have put 12,000 plus miles on it. All I know is you are suppost to check the...

You need to, at the minimum, change the fluid & trans filter. Easy proceedure. With van jacked up & blocked so it won't fall, use a large collection tray under trans pan & remove pan bolts. let oil drain into tray. use screwdriver to pry pan off. clean pan thoroughly & trans matting surface. Remove filter. You may need to adjust low rev band. Check with dealer or parts store for proper clearances. Put new filter on & tighten bolt[s]. Use new gasket & rebolt pan. Use gasket sealer on pan side only. You'll need 4-8 qts. of the proper tranny oil. Fill through trans. filler hole. Start engine & let warm up, check level & don't overfill or you'll have to suction out until level.

Replace a trnsmition filter

You will need to raise the vehicle. On the drivers side is the trans pan. Remove the bolts, start on the rear and work around to the front. Leave 1 bolt in the front so the pan does not fall and cover you in fluid. Slowly loosen the last bolt, let the trans drain. If the pan is stuck gently pry it down to loosen it. Remove the last bolt. The filter will pull down. The filter has a seal up inside the trans. Remove it. Reinstall the new seal ans reassemble. Good Luck.

Need to know placement of transmission pan, automatic, filter in or out?

Trans pan is going to be the very lowest part of your transmission. The filter swap is just slightly concerning. Not to be rude, but you might want to have an assistant that is familiar with trans basics to walk you thru the first one if locating the pan was difficult.
If you feel that the filter swap is something you would like to do, start out by getting the filter kit and reviewing the included instructions. If they are not able to give a full and detailed explanation, they sometimes include a number to call. Dont bother. Just come back here and ask!
Automatic transmissions do not come with a drain plug. You will need to loosen all the small bolts around the edge except for one, to keep the entire pan from crashing to the ground and splashing oil everywhere. pull the edge down and into the drain pan goes the trans fluid. The filter is right under the pan. Cant miss it.

It is real important to be as clean as possible. No contaminants in the trans. If you can, pressure wash the area first and stay operating room clean!
Good Luck to ya
