Very easy job, just take off the column covers, screws are inside holes on bottom cover, they are phillips head screws.

Please, Please someone truly help me...... I own a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34. I love my car. Unfortunately I am not flourishing with large amounts of money. I have taken and been taken by now two garages and...

If the third brake light, or "Center High Mounted" brake light is working but the main brake lights do not then the problem will be the turn-signal switch, and the wiring for the rear lights is ran through the turn-signal switch, and I have replaced many turn-signal switches in many vehicles because only the brake lights were inoperable, and after the fuse, and the brake light switch, it is the next part in line to cause both of the rear main brake lights to not function. If the center high mounted brake light and all of the other lights do function normally, then that would indicate that the fuses and the brake light switch are functioning properly, and the problem will be in the turn-signal switch. The turn-signal switch for that vehicle is between 50 and 80 dollars from most auto part stores, and you can have a repair shop install the turn-signal switch for you or you can install it yourself if you have any mechanical inclination or skills with hand tools, and the only special tools you will need will be a steering wheel puller and a steering lock plate tool, and most auto part stores will rent them out to you or some will even lend them out to you if you have purchased a part from them, and let me know if you require any help to replace that turn-signal switch or any further assistance.

2001 Isuzu rodeo turn signal switch. How hard is it to replace? The turn signal lever is broken and needs to be replaced.

Not a big job. Start with the plastic mouldings around the steering colum then the four star screws on the bottom of the steering wheel for the airbag unplug the air bag wires unscrew the big nut holding the steering wheel pull off the steering wheel unscrew the cluster unplug and replace.

1992 cavalier ignition switch and key assembly

The following procedure is "generic" for replacing the lock cylinder. There are a couple of specialized tools you will need and saftey precautions concerning the air bag system.
Take a look and let me know if you wish to tackle the job.
To remove the ignition lock:
CAUTION You must remove the steering wheel when replacing the ignition lock. On vehicles with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, you must temporarily disable the SIR system and remove the inflator module when removing the steering wheel. Leaving the SIR system on could result in deployment of the air bag and possible personal injury.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable, and remove the steering wheel.
  • Remove the bumper and the carrier snapring retainer from the steering shaft.
  • Use a lock plate compressor screw tool to install the lock plate compressor screw in the upper steering shaft. To keep the shaft from telescoping, tighten it to 40 inch lbs.
  • Using the lock plate compressor tool, install on the upper steering shaft, tighten it to depress the shaft lock. Remove the shaft lock retainer, the compressor tool and the steering shaft lock.
  • Remove the turn signal canceling cam assembly. Put the turn signal switch in the "N" position and remove the upper bearing spring.
  • Position the turn signal switch so the mounting screws can be removed through the holes in the switch and remove the turn signal lever.
  • Remove the turn signal switch-to-steering column screws and lift the turn signal switch. Remove the wire protector and disconnect the turn signal switch connector.
  • Use a terminal remover tool to disconnect the buzzer switch wires from the turn signal switch connector. Remove the buzzer switch assembly with needle-nose pliers.
  • Place the lock cylinder in the ACC position, then remove the lock retaining screw and the lock cylinder set.
  • To install the new cylinder lock, reverse the removal procedures.
  • Tighten the lock retaining screw to 22 inch lbs., the turn signal switch screws to 59 inch lbs. and turn the turn signal lever screw to 53 inch lbs.
  • As part of the final replacement procedures, check the operation of the switches and the steering column.

What you need to do is this:

Remove Steering wheel
Remove big connector under dash, it has a 8mm bolt that is holding it in, this will loosen up the wires in the steering column
Pull out clock spring and let it hang
Get lock plate compressor and remove lock plate, the snap ring is kinda hard to get off
Remove plates and spring behind lock plate
Put turn signal switch to the turn right position
remove three screws holding in turn signal cam
remove key warning buzzer, needle nose pliers and it just pulls out, be gentle
remove screw with a torx head that holds the ignition tumbler in place

remove tumbler

I hope this helps, it took me a while to figure this out
