Question about 1997 Dodge Stratus
I DROVE THE CAR EARLIER IN THE DAY, THE CAR WAS FINE.
I WENT TO GO INTO TO TOWN AGAIN AND I NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING AND WAS STAYING IN FIRST GEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. TRANSMISSION IS WORKING FOR REVERSE, DRIVE. BUT IS NOT SHIFTING THROUGH ALL OF IT'S GEARS.(STAYS IN FIRST GEAR). THE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. ENGINE IS A 2.4 LT.
Your ultradrive transmisson has failed, and your stuck in limp home mode. you have 3rd and reverse.
that was the good news.
the bad is that you need a new transmission. the ultradrive transmissions are very problematic. do a wikipedia.org search on chyrsler ultradrives and than write a really angry letter.
your not the only one that transmission has left of the side of the road
