Could be that you either need to replace your rear brakes or have the ebrake cable tightened....as far as the button falling off....unsure...

SOURCE: Cause of noise in front differential of 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback.

there is a plug on the shaft-side of the differential. Using a ratchet remove the plug and with the engine OFF, stick your finger inside the hole and you should get fluid just below the threads of where the plug goes in.

SOURCE: 1997 subaru legacy 2.5 emission code P0170 fuel

If I am correct the po170 code is a lean condition. Usually this is caused by a cracked air duct leading to the air filter. Or the air filter box is not secured properly. I work in the service department at subaru and when we do big services we dont get the air box on right and customers return with a check engine light with the same code and we always find that the air box is not secured. This does not mean this is the issue, for a fuel trim code could be other issues, but I would definately look at this first before getting into a/f sensors, converters and all those other expensove items.

SOURCE: 1997 Subaru legacy cooling fan

well if the fan is stiff to turn by hand I would replace the fan the motor seems like is seized up, just in case ceck the fuses and relays, check the motors voltage and test the circuts voltage, make sure the ect sensor is working fine to be on the safe side. the easy way to make sure a relay is working is trade it with another for the same fuse box. if your fan cuts on you know you have a bad relay.

2010 subaru legacy emergency brake indicator light comes on intermitently and sometimes stays on

Check the park brake switch and the fluid level in the brake master cylinder, both will cause the light to flash.

1995 Subaru Legacy Handbrake knob broken off

It appears if you remove the pin in the lower in of the handle, you can remove the spring and then re-insert a new button. Try and get this part from a junkyard before the dealership....might be a cheap part from them or maybe they want $50 for it....either way, you should be able to replace this yourself.

1997 Saturn SL-2 emergency brake handle BUTTON fell out / off. Emergency brake functional, but can't leave car out of gear (manual)when vehicle is unattended. Live in flat Florida so no huge deal.

Well my 97 sl2's button also flew out of the emergency brake handle. I got frustrated when i saw how much they wanted for the parts to get it fixed. But the solution was as close as my tool box. I found a forgotten tube of 5 ton epoxy resin. And since i didn't feel like spending $100,00 i took the cover off the emergency brake put epoxy gel inside the broken button put the spring on and put the plastic piece in place put on and held the button down for 10 minutes with my bare hands until set to usable strength and now it works perfectly.
