Question about 2004 Honda Odyssey

Open Question

The battery is dead and the panic alarm won't stop.

The battery was drained in our 2003 Odyssey when the cabin lights were left on overnight. When we tried to charge with a battery charger, the car alarm and horn started honking and wouldn't stop. We tried using the remote, the panic button, turning the key etc. Even disconnected the charger AND the battery, put it all back together and the alarm still sounds. Help!

SOURCE: 2002 Honda Odyssey security alarm system

Make sure your hood is shut. I just got my 2002 Honda Odyssey back from the dealer today (90,000 mile check-up - I love my van and will drive it until it dies!) and when I went to lock the van with my remote transmitter, the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound. I open and closed all the doors and tailgate and I could hear that the doors were locked, but the security system wasn't working and that is why the lights didn't blink or the horn didn't sound. I walked up to the front of the van to check the hood to make sure it was closed (there isn't an indicator light for an open hood, only open doors) and the hood wasn't shut completely. Once I opened the hood and let it drop to securely shut, I hit the door lock button on the remote and everything worked like a charm! Hope this helps others in this predicament.

SOURCE: 98 buick lesabre limited, horn started honking

sounds like you have a short in the horn wiring or a bad ground wire these grounds are mostly located under the engine compartment near the back wall whitch is called the fire wall or beside the fenders

SOURCE: horn dont work but it still honks for the alarm.

First, make sure the fuse is ok. If it is, you'll have to inspect the horn contacts under the air bag. If you have to remove the air bag, be SURE to read up on the procedure before working with or removing the air bag!

SOURCE: Keyless remote locks the doors but the horn doesn't honk.

First and foremost: THANK YOU! Leave it this way! That horn honk is annoying. There is an option on cars with factory alarms to disable the (annoying) horn feature by removing and re-inserting an electronic key usually found somewhere below the steering wheel. There is no problem with your alarm.

Hope this helped,
matt

Where is the reset button located in a 2003 Honda Odyssey for the anti theft?

If the remote was programmed before loss of power, push and hold the unlock button until the alarm stops. If not try locking and unlocking the drivers side door with the the key. This has reset the alarm on my 2001 Odyssey.

You will also need the unlock code to reactivate your stereo after long term power loss. It is on a card with the manual given to the owner of new vehicles. A smart dealer will put it on a sticker in the glove box. Otherwise you have to remove the radio and give a Honda dealer the radio serial number to get the unlock code. Don't try it randomly; 10 incorrect tries locks the stereo.

ok , i dont believe fuse 13 draws 40amps, sorry.

did you use an ammeter, and if not an ampclamp meter this is harder.
here is a page that shows all ways to find phantom drains.

12x40 is near 500 watts, no way, if you had drain link that
there would be
1: huge light.
2: huge heat
3: or huge noise.
for sure. 500watts dont just fly way like a bird, not in this world.
no lie we can find, it, but first tell what tools you have.
really.

it may be your alternator that is draining your battery and causing problems. I have replaced my alternator two years in a row on my 2003 Corolla...also having other electrical problems with the radio and cd player. I have been reading where this is a common problem :(

2007 hhr. Battery was drained. Mother left lights on overnight. Tried jump starting no good. Tried charging with new charger nothing. Did notice that once you put the key in the car the alarm lock light...

your alarm system has been tripped when the battery went dead, to get the information on how to reset the alarm is to call the car manufacture to get the procedure, and should not cost you anything.

If i leave the battery connected overnightit

NO the alarm does not draw that much current for it to drain the battery. Look for a light bulb like the one under the hood or the glove box. The other thing to is if you have a rear wiper for the window, it's been know for the wiper arm not to return full back to it's neutral position due to corrosion at the shaft and the motor will draw current trying to pull the wiper arm back to the neutral position. Try pulling the fuse to the rear wiper motor from the fuse box and see if the battery stops draining. Good luck and hope this helps friend.
