On my Cav, the battery plate had rusted/corroded away pretty good. The negative battery cable runs from the battery to the battery plate and then to the bolt on the engine. The place where the battery cable connected to the plate rusted apart. I attempted a fix by running a wire from the spot on the cable where it was connected and ground it myself, but that didn't work. Anyways, I handed it over to the mechanic and they found additional ground wire UNDER the battery plate that had also been rusted/corroded through. They replaced the ground wires and ALMOST all the lights went off. The exceptions were the ABS light will sometimes come on, but this is due to a failure in the ABS unit (which is like $400) to fix. The only light is the daytime runner light and I really didn't care about that one. :) Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem though it usually only appears during driving. I hit a bump and the lights come on in the dash. I have a shop looking at it now, so I'll post what they find, if anything.
