I've had the same thing with my intrepid since I got it. Kind of scares passengers doesn't it? My guess was someone used a slim jim to get the car unlocked after someone left the keys in the car and of course bent one of the rods in the door. I'd check the rods first, before investing in a new part, because maybe you could just bend them back into shape and fix the noise.

Not sure if lock has solenoid or electric motor, but either way, can you hear clicks or any prominent sounds from the door whilst trying to unlock it? you may need to put your ear on the door, if no sound, then wiring needs to be checked, then motor or solenoid, if you do hear similar sounds to the other door then the mechanical part of the lock mechanism has failed and may require a kit or replacement.

Every time I open driver side door the alarm goes off but not the passenger side. I put key in ignition it stops. What can I do to stop it.

stop locking the door with the lock button while the door is open. That engages the factory alarm. You can also use the key in the driver door lock to disarm the system

you will have to remove the interior door trim to gain access to the inside of the door.
i am not sure of the setup in your door but if it is cable driven you may have to replace the whole winder mechanism as I think they come as a unit.
If it is pop riveted to the door panel you will have to drill the rivets out and replace with new ones
Have a good look or take a pic at how it is mounted b4 you start pulling it down

2000 neon power lock problem

You need to take off the door panel, and replace the latch assembly which should come with the actuator. If the actuator comes seperatly, you can just replace it for cheaper.

linkage is disconnected. most pannels pop off easy to allow acess. then pull the cover away from the position close to key point and see if linkage is loose.

Noisy door locks

Hi my name is Allen!

The sound you are hearing is a built-in solenoid inside of the door latch itself, the part to replace will be the door latch or all latches that are making the noise.
