There should be two clips on it unclip them then pull the top out and twist it up it can be aggrivating but it will eventually come out

on the other side of the clips there should be three ears that hold the top and the bottom together , push down on the top as you try to slide those ears out they are raised slightly on the top of the ears

no prob i hope you get it out

Idles high and low

Although it could be any number of things you may want to start with the air filter, a dirty air filter restricts the airflow to the engine and can cause exactly what you have described.

3 other suspects could be, Idle air control valve, mass airflow sensor, or throttle position sensor.

This is normal and is good. There is a one way valve built in the oil filter so when the engine is shut off this valve will shut and keep the oil in the passages so when the engine is started oil will be pumped in the engine quicker and oil preassure will be built up quicker.

How good is the nissan 2005 altyima 2.5 i would like to purchase that car

Well the 3.5 is one of nissans best engines in my opinion but the 2.5 is good too.Nissans are usually very dependable as long as you do routine maintanance like oil changes every 3,000 miles change the spark plugs and plug wires like every 30,000 or so and change the fuel filter every 25,000-30,000 and change the air filter when it needs it which varies on the area you live in usually like every 15,000 miles or so.

2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 no heat after changing cooling fluid. Is there a bolt to remove to burp the system

You may need to loosen a hose at the engine or the highest point and bleed the air out, no bleeder on this engine.

I'm having trouble starting altima 02. I have to open the air filter case and block the air hole to **** in air to start the car

Sounds like the Mass Air flow metre has broken down! this regulates the amount of air flowing into the engine when mixed with the fuel.
These are normally situated on the air intake hose after the filter housing and before the carburation unit or throttle housing! or failing that check that all of the hoses to and from the air box are good! also check the vacum hoses as well!

hope this helps
