I have a 1993 740iL. I drove my car 2 hours up North to cottage on Friday. An hour later I drove into town. An hour later I drove it back to cottage. Sunday, time to leave and the car would not start. The battery was fully charged. The engine cranked and cranked. I smelled gas as I attempted starting it with the gas pedal on the floor, so I assume it's getting gas. All fuses are in tact and I have tried replacing the main computer module and tested the relays for this and all is fine there. I had another car jumping mine while I tried starting it over many tests so the battery was always fully powered. I am at the end of life for this vehicle and want to know if this repair if going to be more $$$ than the car is worth.

    Thanks

Before tampering with coil have you checked/replaced ignition or any blown fuses?

    Has it an alarm?

Why wont my BMW 93 525 I wont start turn over but will not start

When you turn the key to the on position do you hear a buzz from the rear of the car for several seconds? If not possible bad fuel pump or relay or fuse. If you get the sound check the ignition coil for spark. Pull the coil wire and have someone crank the engine for you Observe if there is spark going to ground. You first need to know which system has failed.

1998 bmw 740i runs smoothly when cold runs ruf when warm

1. Check coolant level and then do an actual temp check of the coolant once the thermostat has opened your checking to see if it is opening).
(if coolant level was really low, monitor it every day for a week of driving -- need confirm not loosing it inside the engine)
2. Replace fuel filter.
3. Verify fuel pump is working properly.
4. Ensure fuel lines are not touch hot engine/exhaust parts (this percolates the fuel).
5. Run fuel injector cleaner (concentrated for 2 tanks) Use premium gas for one tank.
6. replace spark plugs (first if you have not for some time)
(check spark wires (no more than 50 ohms resistance) Replace if greater)

My 1994 BMW 740i only cranks and never runs.

Have you run the fault codes first as it may not be the fuel pump. Find out what is faulty before you spend good money on what is not faulty.

Wont start

is the your car engine cranking when you try to start, first check spark plugs ignition coils, remove one ignition coil and spark plug fix the spark plug in to the ignition coil then connect ignition coil to wiring and keep spark plug body touching on ground of engine head mettle parts, ask some one to crank engine then you can see is the plug sparking or not, do the same way to all the coils and plug otherwise you have to buy a ignition spark tester, is the all the coils and spark plugs are OK then check the fuel pump, it's sitting in under rear seat, before that do one thing disconnect oxygen (O2) sensor wiring and crank engine, the thing is if your oxygen sensor completely dead fuel pump will stop working, if engine start after disconnect O2 sensor, replace new O2 sensor, otherwise need to check fuel pump relay fuse and fuel pump. is this information helped you? please vote me and give a comment.

Fuel pump wont stay on wont start replace the

The pump is not supposed to stay on, you should only hear it for a second or two when the ignition is turned on. At least you know the pump is working. There must be a problem in the ignition system, like no spark, do to a bad coil, ignition module, without testing it's hard to say.
