2004 Suzuki Verona hesitating and jerking with ck eng light on

Recently when stepping on gas, the car hesitates for a few seconds, almost like it's gonna shut off, then takes off like a jet. Today the check engine light came on and the car jerks a couple of times when I hit the accelator. Had the car in shop for coil, spark plugs, leaky head gasket - over $2,000 worth of work!

I had the wires and plugs changed and also about $2700 worth of work under the warranty (supposedly the head gaskets and rear bearings were leaking). This recent problem occured after all this work was done. I really like the car but I'm beginning to think that I just might have to let it go back to the dealer. I just bought it in November '08 and it's costing me a fortune!

Oh almost forgot! Took the car to the same mechanic and he said that it's the pcm (some kind of computer ont he car). When I called the Suzuki dealership, the mechanic there said that it had been replaced on the car twice and would cost me a small fortune to fix it again (about $1,200 not including labor) This is really making my blood pressure boil. Think I will try another mechanic.

I've got the same make/model and issue. I've got a mechanic I trust who changed the spark plugs and pc valve (about $200). The problem has persisted and he's telling me we need to change the spark plug wires which I avoided because they were going to cost me $120 @ Autozone. So I knew if I'd ordered through my mechanic or the dealer they would have been twice that not including labor. If it doesn't work...I'll be calling click and clack.

One thing I can say...is that this car is the best example of why you need a trustworthy mechanic. Someone who is willing to try and eliminate an issue one at a time versus what they did to you. I really love my car and have grown to realize the parts are hard to find and rival BMW's in price. Find another mechanic...and if when you buy a part for routine maintenance...buy two.

Fuel pressure should be 45psi and it is 70-85psi. lot or skip and hesitation. poor gas mileage

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is not working. Check for vacuum at regulator and the check to see if it will hold a vacuum. Let me know what you find and we can continue diagnosing.

Check Engine light reset on 2004 Suzuki Verona

You can disconnect the negative cable of the battery for a couple of minutes (but you will lose radio settings and possibly others that the car will relearn), or you can go to an auto parts store such as Advance Auto or Pep Boys and they have a free scanner service to diagnose problems that should be able to reset the light. Mine does.
