Where is the headlight relay on a 2005 monte carlo

Did you check fuses and relays first? Diagnose first, then repair. A new motor comes after you connect 12 volts to the old one and see if it works.

The headlights are powered directly from the headlight switch via the dimmer switch.

Don't waste your time looking for a headlamp relay. You will not find one. 1983 Monte Carlo does not use a headlamp relay. Your problem is most likely a defective headlamp dimmer switch. It is located about halfway down the upper left side of the steering column. It is secured by the same screws that mount the ignition switch. It is activated by a metal rod that pushes down on it when you pull back on your turn signal lever. It looks like the picture below.

The headlight relay switch (little black box with 4 contacts) is in the fusebox under the hood.

headlight switch is probably overheating and needs to be replaced. draws alot of current.

It should be located under the hood thats where you usually will find all your relay fuses. Good luck
