My 2000 model A4 1.8 Central locking for doors, petrol cap and the boot lid is not working.It is not working when trying to lock or open using the car key manually and remotely. It only arms the alarm be it manual or pressing the key remotely. What could be the problem?

This is a common fault on the series 3 usually down to the General Module 5 or GMV relays breaking down. Item is situated behind glove box reasonably easy to replace. Cost from BMW about £240.00 Can be found through breakers about £60.00. Keys will have to be recoded. See www.bmwgm5.com for more info.

dont go through all the hassles of removing the door trim just take the terminal off the battery for about a minute then reconect again worked on mine good luck

leave ign off with key out 3mins disconnet battery 5 mins reconnett and press lock/ unlock repeatedly until locks cycle through to re sync try this any probs come back to me

will your passenger door open with the key and is it just one side that your windows are not working or both. if its just one side it might be your regulator motor in the door thats not working if its both it might be your central locking pump usually in the boot. however if both of them are working fine it could be that your key needs reprogrammed however i think the 1st 2 are more likely to be the problem.
