SOURCE: replacing lower ball joint-GMC JImmy

is this a 4 wd drive unit or 2wd unit? are you mechanically inclined and have basic common tools including a jack and jackstands? if you live close to pep-boys auto center then you can take it there you will spend about 200-300 to do the job, just ask them for a qoute first and that hopefully is still free. they have a special coupon on there wbsite right now that will save you some money, plus if you are over 55 or student in school you can also save money there. i was a service manager there for a while... let me know what you want to do they are not super hard to do but can give you a headache if you dont have a grinder or chisel. i can walk you through it though if you still wish, im all for the do it yourselfer.

SOURCE: Instructions to replace sheared off lugs / studs - 1997 Chevy

You need to remove the wheel of course. It depends on if the silverado is like the 1997 GMC 3/4 ton K2500 4x4. If so, then the easiest way is to remove the hub with the rotor because on the GMC the lug bolts go through both making them one unit. I just changed out the lugs on a 1997 GMC as mentioned above while replacing the ABS / wheel bearing hub assembly in which I had found to be the easiest procedure. Place the unit on the bench and look to locate the back of the lug nuts so you can see if there is anything else you may want to do to make things easier and then drive the lugs out in the steps that follow. If the lugs are part of the rotor and not driven through the hub assembly and into the rotor, then you would simply remove the rotor and lay it on something flat, clean and sturdy and use a drift or center punch with a persuasion tool such as a hammer to drive them out by placing the punch on the face of the sheered side of the stud and smack the punch with a hammer driving it out the back side. You then you put the new one on by pushing it through the hole from the back side of the rotor and tap it in until fully seated. Put everything back together and safe travels.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: My 1996 Lexus ES300 suddenly

Call around find a shop that will give you a free estimate on it, have them scan it. Don't think the interment panel will show up on there scan, but it also won't make your car run bad if your interment panel is not working. I would guess you have a bad ECM, or some fuse or relay that is bad. Mechanics are like doctors never trust the first diagnoses until you have heard it from another two doctors. Unless of coarse they are you long used trusted mechanic.

I have a borg warner 4sd trans it is locked up there is no shifter on it but cant move the lingage i tried a hammer no luck thanks paul

Based on your limited info, I will surmise that this transmission is not mounted and has been sitting around- I will also surmise that you are either talking about the super T-10 or 2nd gen. superT-10 4-speed manual tranny.
Predicated that the aforementioned is accurate, I will guess that the gear oil over time leaked out and the synchronizers, gears, main-shaft, or other internal part(s) have seized up.
You need to open it up and see what is or is not happening internally- but please, do not use a hammer or any other device to hit the transmission levers or transmission body- you'll crack the casting.

How can I install an AMC 360 engine into my 1965 rambler classic with a 287 engine?

what I did was removed the 287 engine installed an AMC 360 .In order to do this you have to get an borg warner m11 bell housing from 67 to 71 .amc used borg warner transmissions until than. So you put the m11 bell housing on to the m8 transmission and get the motor mount for the AMC 360 engine

I would like to know if I can install an borg warner m8 tail section onto an borg warner m12 transmission that way I would not have to change from the torque tube subsention

I just found out that all that you have to do is . You have three options to go with one change the bellhousing from a borg warner m12 transmission. two use and borg warner m12 transmission but use the yoke head from the m8 onto the yoke of the m12 yoke .Three use a chryler/amc tf727 torque command transmission.Use the yoke from the m8 weld the head on to the spline of the 727transmission weld the m8 tail section onto eather transmission and that way you can keep the torque tube suspension on your classic 770 with the 287.Your rear end should be an AMC 20 to stand the torque from the AMC 360 engine with about 350 hp .last but at lease get the trany mounts.

what do i need to do that.?
ill spin the wheel of fate, and land on 5speed box.
and answer for TR5 and NV1500 boxes.

For all transmissions except for the Borg-Warner T5R, replace the transmission fluid at the first 15,000 miles (24,000 km) and then every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) thereafter. The Borg-Warner T5R transmission does not require periodic changing of the transmission fluid. (they lie)
  1. Raise the vehicle and support safely on jack-stands. Place a fluid catch pan under the transmission drain plug.
  2. Remove the fill plug from the side of the transmission, then remove the drain plug. Be cautious when removing the drain plug: the transmission fluid can be very hot. Allow the transmission fluid to drain into the pan.
  3. Install the drain plug and tighten to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm) for all models except the 1996 Hombre, which requires 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
  4. Refer to the manual transmission fluid recommendations for the proper viscosity of engine oil, or type of transmission fluid to be used for the T5R and NV1500 transmissions. Fill the transmission by pouring the new fluid through the fill plug hole in the side of the transmission. Fill until the fluid starts to dribble out of the filler hole. Install the fill plug to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm), then lower the vehicle.
so next you ask, what fluid
sure.
Use engine oil for all of the manual transmissions, except for the Borg-Warner T5R and the NV1500 (1996 Hombre). Make sure to use engine oil of the correct viscosity for these transmissions, as follows:
  • Except 1992-96 Rodeo and Trooper, high temperature-SAE 40
  • Except 1992-96 Rodeo and Trooper, normal temperature-SAE 5W-30SF
  • 1992-96 Rodeo and Trooper, high temperature-SAE 15W-40, 20W-40 or 20W-50
  • 1992-96 Rodeo and Trooper, normal temperature-SAE 5W-30
he Borg-Warner (B-W) T5R is found on Rodeo models with the V6 engine. The 1991-93 B-W T5R uses DEXRON-II automatic transmission fluid, whereas the 1994-96 B-W transmission uses DEXRON- III automatic transmission fluid.

use the highest Dexron number, on the shelf, mark III is not made today.

What model of transmission does a 1995 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 L engine have?

Most common automatic is an AW4...its pretty much based on the old Borg Warner unit (If I remember correctly AW is asian warner or something close to that.)
If it's stick, It could be one of a few but can be ID'd by the vin# or the tag on the unit itself.

Hello rvkenneljmil: My name is Roger I can help you. You did not say what transmission you were asking about. GM used 3 different transmissions. The automatic was a 700Ra. The standard transmissions were a Borg warner and one made by Isuzu. The MW1 was made by Borg warner had a bolt up bel housing. The transmission bolts to it.The Isuzu transmission is a two piece transmission. The bell housing and one half of the transmission case are one piece. Depending on the transmission make sure you use the correct fluid in them. 90wt gear oil in the Isuzu transmission will destroy the bearings. The code numbers for the Isuzu is MG5/MY2/M50.
