Temp. gauge not working after having a heater core replaced.

Had heater core replaced on 1993 Mercury XR7, 3.8L,V6. All gauges worked before these repairs was done. Now the temp. gauge doesn't work, and the car overheated. Is there a connector to the temp. gauge under the dash that is not connected, wire not on the sending unit on the engine connected, or blown fuse?

neednanswer : I Always make sure there is coolant in the Rad. and the Res. it isn't leaking anywhere...the mechanic that did the work, left the cigg.1 wire off, so it didn't work, also with the inside trunk release, didn't have wired back. Any other suggestions as to why the temp. gauge isn't working...Thanks!

If the engine cooling system was not filled and air bleed out the system may have an air pocket and this keeps the gauge from reading correctly.

1993 mercury topaz fan blowing but heat not getting to interior

Make sure the coolant level is full. Check the temp gauge to see if the car is running at the right temp. Feel the upper hose and lower hoses after the car has run long enough to warm up. They should feel warm/hot. If they do no than the thermostat may be stuck open. Feel the hoses going to the heater core. If one feels hot and one feels cold than either the heater core is plugged or the heater control valve (if equipped) is stuck closed. If you suspect a heater core you can always try back flushing it to see if you can clear it out.

My 2001 lincoln ls v6, the heater works fine except it doesnt blow out hot air. only cold, the car temp gauge is working normal too

It's possible the cooling system is just a little low on coolant. There could also be a valve in the heater hose that is failing to open and let the coolant flow through the heater core. It could also be the heater core itself. Did it start doing this gradually or did start all at once? If it came on gradually it most likely the heater core or low coolant, if it happened suddenly it's a valving or heater control problem. Good Luck.

No heat. gauge working. fairly new thermostat. replaced engine, radiator cap.?

I am guessing that the gauge is showing normal operating temp, if so, I am also guessing that the blower motor is pushing air through the ducts.... if so than

were heater hoses reconnected ?
was hot water valve vacuum line reconnected ?
was all air purged from entire cooling system after engine repplaced ?
were heater hoses connected properly to get correct direction of flow ?
are hoses to heater core under hood getting hot ?

is the heater core clogged ?

Temperature gauge fluctuates and the heater blows cold air

Definitely check your fluid level in your radiator. Top it off all the way. I've seen that happen multiple times on cars that were low on anti-freeze. If that doesn't work try replacing your thermostat. It's cheap and the easiest place to start if topping off the fluid doesn't get you fixed up.

1993 subaru impreza L heater is not working

if the engine temp seems normal on the dash gauge then it may be a clogged heater core.have the sysyem flushed-it worked for me recentlythe other options may be a heater door not closing..some are vacuum activated a flush is a good place to start..good luck

No heat. Temp gauge barely moves, but hoses to/from core are hot

If the temp. gauge on the instrument panel is OK, test and eventually replace the temperature sender, and check the wiring to temperature sender.

Replacing the whole heater core is not a simple operation, test sender and wiring first.
