I have a 1998 GMC 3500 7.4 V8 pickup. Sometimes when I turn on the key the fuel pump won't come on and it won't start. Then it will run and start fine for several days. I had the pump replaced about 10,000 miles ago.

Check the Ground wire which runs from the fuel pump to the back of the truck. Had this very prob myself.

If it is gas you will need to buy the fuel pump from the factory or from your local GM dealer, I do not recommend aftermarket pumps as they tend to fail after a short period of time. also replace the fuel sock and fuel filter at the same time, this is called preventative maintenance and will save you problems in the future.

The blower is located on the passenger side beneath the glovebox.
•
Clean any corrosion from the terminals, or replace the blower motor as necessary.
•
Inspect the flange of the blower motor for any damage or distortion that may cause an air leak.
•
Repair the flange, as necessary.
•
Inspect the blower fan for any damage or distortion.
Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
For Vehicles equipped with OnStar® (UE1) with Back Up Battery:
The Back Up Battery is a redundant power supply to allow limited OnStar® functionality in the event of a main vehicle battery power disruption to the VCIM (OnStar®module). Do not disconnect the main vehicle battery or remove the OnStar® fuse with the ignition key in any position other than OFF. Retained accessory power (RAP) should be allowed to time out or be disabled (simply opening the driver door should disable RAP) before disconnecting power. Disconnecting power to the OnStar® module in any way while the ignition is On or with RAP activated may cause activation of the OnStar® Back-Up Battery (BUB) system and will discharge and permanently damage the back-up battery. Once the Back-Up Battery is activated it will stay on until it has completely discharged. The BUB is not rechargeable and once activated the BUB must be replaced.

Did you mean the battery ground? Everything is tight. I tried another relay, didn't work either. The vehicle turns over, I just cannot hear the electric fuel pump.
