SOURCE: vw polo 1995 has problem starting. when running
Several things to attack here... use a gauge to check fuel pressure at the injector manifold... should be 80 psi i believe... also check the fuel pump relay it may not be working right in the "start" position... (yes it's actually two relays in one... one for "start" and one for "run"... test this by attaching a light or meter at the pump terminals (under the car, right rear) if it doesn't light right up (or show battery voltage) when key is turned the problem is definitely electrical... if pressure is low, first replace the filters, if still low then suspect the pump(s). oh did I mention there are two pumps? One is called the transfer pump (in the tank) the other is the high pressure pump. Rule out the high pressure pump before suspecting the transfer pump.
Hope this helps...;-)
SOURCE: Car will start but will only run for about 20 seconds
I had the same situation on my 2004 Touareg. The problem is the Fuel Pump. The Touareg has two. A primary and secondary. The primary on yours has gone out. The secondary is to assist with starts and secondary throttle driving situations like pulling a load or having a bit of fun in OD or sport mode. The part alone should run you about $350.00. However the tank has to be dropped from the vehicle to replace it. Should take no longer than 2 days max at a dealership. Mine was a one day job.
Hope this helps.
