My 2000 ford explorer sport 2 dr will turn over and start and then stall. It will only stay on when my foot is on the gas, as soon as I let my foot off to put it in drive it stalls. I started it in neutral and got it going and it stalled as soon as started to brake. Just changed the oil filter 3 weeks ago.

SOURCE: 94 Jeep Wrangler intermittently stalls when put in reverse, drive

Take the air inlet hose off where it enters the throttle body and take a look at the throttle plates. It is likely that they’re dirty and have a build-up of carbon deposits. That is the most common cause for stalling that we see in the shop for your vehicle. Sometimes all it takes is a good cleaning to cure the stalling problem. There is an idle speed setting on your Jeep, but to check and/or perform this service step requires the use of a computer scan tool for your vehicle. If the cleaning doesn’t help ask a repair facility to check and reset, if needed, the minimum idle speed on your Jeep.

Thnx.

SOURCE: car stalls when i put it in drive or reverse,

Sounds like your vacuum assist brakes diaghram has sprung a leak. Pull the hose to the assist and plug it with a bolt or something. Then try it.

SOURCE: wont keep idle, car stalls out

I had this same problem on my 2005 monte carlo, took mechanic a while to figure out it was the idle air control valve. They also replace the idle air control motor.

SOURCE: When I pump gas into my 2000 Hyundai Sonata my car

It is possible that when fueling, the fuel is aerated and the pump pulls agitated fuel into the system. you can thry this, fuel up as normal, but wait five or more minutes before starting. see what happens. good luck

check the fuse for the a/c compressor/pcm power relay. you most likely need an a/c compressor due to excessive draw that blows the fuse for both your a/c compressor and the pcm(computer) i believe its a 10amp fuse under the hood

First thing would be to replace the fuel filter. Then spark plugs. You may have a weak fuel pump. A faulty fuel pressure regulator could also cause this.

Car stalls at stop signs

will it re-start right back up?
next time try to keep your foot on the gas pedal to see if it stay running ( be careful when you do this, if you give too much gas the car will over come the brake and cause accident )
if it stay running then you need to replace an idle air control valve

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, 2 dr. 4.0 liter. I am having a problem with the torque converter lockup. It doesnt disengage normally. It will disengage if I tap on the brakes, but after about 3 seconds...

That is the way that the lock up TC should operate. This is what happens:

When the computer sees that you are at a set speed. or light accel, you are in 3rd gear or 4th, it will lock up. If you increase throttle, put your foot on the break or take your foot off the gas it will take it out of lock up. It will wait for a shor time then re-engauge. Hope this helps.
