TPS is always connected to one end of the throttle plate shaft It should not be difficult to identify. If you already have the new one the old one is identical. Usually fastened with two small torx screws.

Is there anything attached to the end of the throttle plate shaft? It is fuel injected right??? Regardless of what system you have it is always attached to that shaft!!! It's job is to send info to the computer to tell it the position of the throttle plate and it could not do that if mounted anywhere else!!

on the 1999 model that he's refering to I'm having the same problem. There is a plastic plate with 4 rivets on each side of the throttle body and no cables ran to it like usual. There is also a plastic box with 4 rivets on it attached to the gas pedal under the dash. There's wires that attach to both the box under the dash and the throttle body assembly. Everyone I have talked to is saying there should be a TPS somewhere, but finding it is proving to be rather difficult...

Throttle position sensor!!!! How to replace???

The most common location for a T.P.S. is mounted on the Throttle Body. It is usually mounted to the 'Butterfly' valve inside the throttle body so the T.P.S. can monitor the air flow into the engine.
Try this.Follow the large plastic pipe coming out of the air filter box. This should finish at the Throttle Body at the engine end.

TPS sensor, what us it and where is it located on my 1999 durango

It is the throttle position sensor, it is located right below the black plastic thing on the middle top of your engine right below the throttle body. It has a connector with a couple wires coming out of it, in the middle of the throttle body intake

What do a throttle body look like on a 1999 cadillac devlle

Find the air filter. Flow the tube from the air filter box to the engine. The throttle body is where the tube attaches to the engine. It will also have throttle cables attached to it as well as a TPS sensor, iac, and MAF sensor.

Tps location

The Throttle Position sensor (TPS) is a potentiometer that provides a voltage signal to the PCM that is directly proportional to the throttle plate position. The sensor is mounted on the side of the throttle body and is connected to the throttle plate shaft. The TPS monitors throttle plate movement and position, and transmits an appropriate electrical signal to the PCM. These signals are used by the PCM to adjust the air/fuel mixture, spark timing and EGR operation according to engine load at idle, part throttle, or full throttle. The TPS is not adjustable.

Where is the throttle control sensor located on a 1999 pontiac grand prix gtp

The throttle control sensor is called a TPS which is mounted on the throttle body. You will see three wires that plug into it. The throttle body replaces the old carburetor since the engine is fuel injected as you may know

Is there any way to get around changing the whole throttle body to replace the tps

the Throttle position switch,is a little black switch "mounted on the drivers side of the throttle body",There would be no reason to remove the throttle body, the TPS is held on by two or small screws
