Mechanic told me I need new motor mounts and showed me this by opening the hood and pointing to the fact that my engine shakes. Also told that some of them have fused to the body..is this legit and if so was the 200 dollar quote a good one?
The motor mounts that go bad is mostly the top ones. You can get pick those up at Parts Source or Auto Zone and they can give instructions on how too's if you'ld like to try to change it your self. It should not take more then an hour and the shop rates vary from $65.00 to $85.00 per hour where you go. Best thing is to go to Auto Zone and price out the mount.
Oneway to make sure it's you mount's is to apply the brakes as hard as you can and put it in to drive or revers and see if you can fell a jump and then try it again with less perssure on the brakes too see if there is a difference no how the car lurches forward or back wards.
If you feel like there is a lurch with out the car moving then that's the engine jumpping and most likly your going to have to change the mount's. Good luck and hope this helps.
