Ssangyong musso automatic transmission

My gears are locked and wont change , more over even thou the gear is on Park, the entire vehicle goes in reverse.what do I do?

Thank you Tracy but even if the gear is not attached to the steering wheel or dash board ?In my case the gear box is down and its on P but when i try to change it to D it doesnt , instead once i release my foot of the breaks the car goes backwards.

Check the two bolts that connects the steering shaft to steering wheel. When they get loose your gear want go in park.

SOURCE: automatic 3 speed transmission wont shift out of first gear

that is what they consider safe mode for those transmissions, they are a very smart electronic transmission it does that so you dont ruin the trans.
It has detected a problem and you must take it to a tech and have the codes pulled, could be as simple as a sensor or solenoid pack

You sould have been moore frequent on your transmission fluid changes, and you shouldn't have taken it to Jiffy Lube either. Your best bet is to drain and fill the trans fluid run it shift gears. Drain and fill again. Do this 3 times. Yeah the transmission fluid is expensive. on the last drain and fill you want to get a bottle of LUBE GUARD from NAPA or who ever sells it. put the whole 10oz bottle in. Shift Rev, 1, 2, 3, D. Neutral Rev D. If that don't work then you have bad seals.

P0734 - 4th gear incorrect ratio. P1529 Malfunction Indicator Lamp Request. Problem is in the transmission.
Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

Ive been having the same problem with my Ford Taurus, its probably the parking gear is broken

Sounds like the transmission fluid level is low ?? this is the first sign ,failing which the reverse gear brake band needs adjusting

I have a 97 Ssangyong Musso with auto transmission, which sometimes won't select revesre, forward gears work fine, is there a way to fix this without removing the gearbox

I'd check if the transmission fluid is a,. the right level, b.is in good condition ie not burnt , dark brown instead of red etc , c. get the OBD codes read
