Hesitation on hard acceleration-overdrive

When on the freeway (or surface streets) when accelerator is pushed hard, car hesitates and almost bucks. Seems to be only when use of overdrive gear is necessary or excessive fuel is needed. Have had complete tune up with plugs/wires/fuel fiter. Fuel pump is only 30,000 old (car has 71,000). Gears seems to shift smoothly under normal driving conditions leading me to believe it's a fuel issue as opposed to a transmission issue (could be wrong). Similar situations seem to mention the Mass Airflow sensor. Could that be my problem?

Do you have a OBD meter? Probably some sensor will show a flaw. You can buy one from Walmart for around $20.

At least here, In South Florida, Some Auto parts stores will either lend you one(requires a deposit) or do it for you.

Of course you can take it to almost any shop who will use a more elaborate machine, then fix it.

You best bet would be to look for the vacuum diagram and just take a day to make sure all of the lines to the engine and tranny are all correct. If its not it and while bucking the car feels like its going to turn off on you then it maybe a fuel delivery problem.

SOURCE: hard shift and blinking overdrive

The blinking overdrive button is telling u that a serious fault has occurred in the electronic controls or a mechanical fault such as excess slippage is occurring.

get the truck where you can service it and have a transmission service done this will include: new fluid and transmission filter
because it sounds as if it has not been changed in awhile open the hood and if the transmission fluid smells cooked change it right away

Go to an Autozone or Advanced Auto and have them read the code for free. The problem can be anywhere until you know the codes.

Hesitation during low acceleration and neutral

egr valve or throttle positon switch, clean out your throttle body if its has buildup of carbon, egr valve or vacuum leak is my first thought.

When maintaining speed of about 50mph,2004 pacifica hesitates and will cut off while in park sometimes.check engine light is not on

scan the computer with a computer scanner just to see what it says. check your intake, I am thinking your mass air flow sensor is no good. it happened to my car where the rpm increases and decreases when the car is idle. Or it can be the IAC valve.
