Just wait one hour and it will reset and you can then try it again. You have ten chances. If for some reason you start to put it in wrong again, just put in any digits as if that were the 5 digit code. If you don't complete, it will lock again and you will need to wait another hour. I hope this helps and good luck.
In the owners maunel you should have a card with the radio code on it.
The radio will only display EEE or OFF when the wrong code has been entered and the radio is locked depending on model - this is due to the battery being disconnected and the incorrect radio code being entered 3 times. You will neet to reset the radio. To do this the radio has to be on for either 2 or 4 hours - see the manual for your model. If you got the code from a card from Volvo, and it didn't work, then the radio has been changed or it has been reset by the dealer and your current code is invalid. You will have to pull the radio and find the serial & model number, and get Volvo to look up the code for that radio or the dealer may be able to lookup the radio code via vin# from Volvo. The dealer can reset the radio and enter a new code. When the radio is "ready" to accept an unlock code the display will say "codE". You will need this code if your battery is ever disconnected.
You will need to turn the ignition to the number 1 position and turn the radio on. It can take several hours, but the word code should come back on. When that happens, you will need to put the correct code in. If you don't have it, a Volvo dealer can give you the correct code from your VIN.
You need to leave the key in the ignition in position I (accessory) for two hours, after that it will say code and you can input the code. The radio switches to "OFF" after three failed attempts with the wrong code. If you dont have the code call the dealership with your VIN and they can give it to you.
There is a 4 digit security code that needs to be entered into the radio. Look in your owners manual, it may be written in the book or there may be a card in the booklet that has the code. If you find it, enter it once, if it doesn't work, stop, because entering the wrong code will lock up the radio. You will need to go to the dealer to get the code if you cannot find it. http://repairpal.com/volvo-850-1994/common_problems
If you do not have the code. look in owners manual some times it is written in there or there is a card with code on it. if not you need to go to a volvo dealer and they can get the code for you. You may have to pay them for it.
If the display says "Off" the radio is locked from incorrect code input.
You need to leave the key in the accessory position with the radio on (display reads 'Off') for about two hours. After that it should ask for he code again. You have three tries before it locks again. Some radios are different, but typically you use the knob to adjust the numbers, push the knob in to move to the next number
take the battery posts off. by disconnecting the battery for a good 15 min you will wipe the residual memory on the computer then plug back in and try again. hope this helps
