it sounds like there is a communication problem between the brake module and body control module i would check with the dealer as they may have a software update for this concern
there is a multi control module panel mounted under the rear seat they are located on the passenger side their are four or five module units mounted on the panel
You need to replace the traction control module located on the ABS pump. There are places in the US where they will rebuild it for you with warranty for about $150. Its tricky to get off (you need to remove the rad hose between the battery and the pump to get to it, but don't disconnect the ABS module, just the TC module mounted at end of the ABS unit (has a bunch of brake lines coming out if it).
The power steering is variable assist, relative to the speed of the vehicle, so if the speedo doesn't work, then the PS won't and you should have TC and ABS lights on. The electrical connectors to the module are tricky to remove. don't force them. One connector has a sliding lock bar.
Speedo and odo not working and warning TCS ABS lights on? Change electronic brake control module (EBCM) $2000 new, around $300 used or rebuilt at modulemasters.com
It is the BCM (Body control module). The radio is married to it via the serial number. You need to replace the module (lower right kick area, pass side in front of front door, behind plastic...aluminum box), and have it programmed to your car through a Tech 2 diag system.....dealer...this unit controls just about everything apart from the brakes, engine and tranny which all have their own computer. You probably have issues with the sun roof if you have this option.
I have a 2000 Catera that when I changed the electronic brake control module all warning lights went off, speedo and odo worked. New EBCM is $2000 Cdn I got mine used for 170. also it can be re built at modulemasters.com for $160. Not sure about the dash light tho.

It's your ETCBM ( Electronic Traction Control Brake Module ). Had the same problem . This will cause your speedometer , ABS brakes and check engine light to come on.You'll even notice your stering is a little stif. I had my mechanic remove it and sent it out to Module Masters for rebuild ( 5 year warranty ) Works like a charm now. Those guys are really great .Cost me with freight $160 plus mechanic to R & R it. www.modulemasters.com
I found this info online . Most mechanics will say it is a Speed sensor, but after many hours and going that route you'll see what I mean.
PS: You can still drive the car ( carefully ) while you wait for the rebuilt unit to be returned.
