I have a 99 astro van that usually won't start after it rains. Did not find any moisture under the dist. cap but replaced it anyway. I also replaced the ignition coil which for some time(maybe a month ) seemed to have fixed it. Now it's doing it again. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Had the same issue with our 1999 chevy astro van, would crank but would not start. It had been raining and windshield had a leak, after 2 days of no rain it started. Pulled codes and was the Security system in the ignition switch. Hope this helps.

The distributor cap probably needs replacing. They are notorious for failing just by their design. Problem is the dealers no longer carry them so you will get an after market unit from a local auto parts dealer. Make sure it has a life time replacement as the after market units fail more often than your original GM part

Try cleaning the trotle body at the butterfly,they tend to carbon up and not let proper air mixture at idle,tailtail sign some times is feels like the throtle pedal sticks or pops when depressing it.

these vans where kind off know for haveing problems with there dist. check the dist cap for cracks, check the coil wire also. what has happened is that mosture is getting in some where and probley the cap is at fault. when s the last time the vech has had a decent tune/up cap rotor plugs wires . replace the cap and rotor and coil wire, should solve your problem . but i would recommend looking at the other tune /up parts good luck kdc744

these vehicles get moisture in the distributor cap. replace those with GM ONLY parts. When you go to install the cap, put a bead of wheel bearing grease on the outside of the cap only where it seals to the distributor base. This will keep out the moisture which causes corrosion.

try checking the crankshaft positioning sensor, it may be getting water in the connector causing it to short out and give false readings
