Which is the approximate maximum speed of the 1976 chevrolet chevette ?

I've been driving Chevettes since 1980 and I currently own six of them, in 2019 lol! if your engine is in tune and there is no wind, I've had my speedo buried, so approximately 90mph, since the speedo goes to 80mph. it also depends if you have the 4 speed or auto trans, and your rear axle ratio. 1976 Chevette came with a 3.70 to1 or a 4.11 to 1 gear ratio.

Line up timing marks on a 1980 chevy chevette, I turned the crank accidently and don't no how many teeth.

To be perfectly sure where the number 1 cylinder fire is at this point remove the valve cover, remove the #1 spark plug, remove the distributor cap, clean the crank to identify clearly the crankshaft marking on the crankshaft harmonic balancer wheel.
First step: Slowly turn the crank by hand until the line on the crank lines up to the zero timing mark...if you are on #1 the rotor in the distributor should be facing the #1 segmant in the distrbutor caps firing sequence, to verify further both intake and exhaust valve rocker arms should be in the valve closed positions in the #1 cylinder, the piston should be all the way to the top opf dead center(carefully insert a long skinny screw driver into the #1 spark plug hole to feel the pistons top travel while being sure the valves are both closed as explained above).
With all that checking out you are now exactly on top dead center in the #1 firing order sequence of your valve timing.

1986 chevette has alot of knocking coming from the engine.Lifters have been adjusted,but problem still persists, what else could it be?

Lifters tick. Rod bearings knock(typically the harder you mash the gas, the louder the knock). poor quality gas can do it if you need a tune-up.

My 87 chevette wont fire up.

you probably have bad timing my friend, check your base timing w/ a timing light, you might need to disconnect the main wire harness to your ecu.
pull a spark plug wire and ground to body and see if your getting spark first..
let me know..
