if its black smoke and id say it is being a deisel it can be injectors or just simply fuel pump timing. get it to a deisel specialist to check the pump timing and your fuel load under acceleration, only real way to get it sorted.
you have a severe missfire thats why the light is blinking
the smoke and sound were the cat converter[s] glowing red hot from the missfire
dont drive it untill the missfire is fixed or youll ruin the cats[if not already] plus a good chance of fire exists
It is burning the oil,and it is not noticable ,and the oil pump is either weak,or the cam/crank,rod bearings are worn,and the pressure does not make it up yo the valve train.

Stay away from biodiesel blend fuel until you figure out what's the cause of the problem.
Use Diesel Cleen silver bottle and see is there any improvement.

Add the recommend dose of SEAFOAM into the crankcase to soften the valve stem seal.
Leaky valve stem seal can introduce oil drop into the cyclinders over-night.
