I have a 1992 honda accord that will not turn over. I have taken the stater off and had it tested, and have tried to jump the battery. The starter tested good and jumping did not start the car. I put a jumper wire on the starter solenoid and can start the car buy touching the wire to the postive battery post. But if I use the key all I get is a click under the dash. Any suggestions?

Forgot to say that it is a manual tranny and it will start in neutral with the use of the wire.

Also replaced the ignition switch located behind the key cylinder and still only got a clicking.

Have you tested the ignition switch at the back of the key cylinder under the steering column covers to see if the starter solenoid power is coming out of the switch< the ignition starter switches are prone to failure on this and other Japanese cars.

Testimonial: "I have replaced that. I still only get a clicking under the dash. I assume that since I am getting a clicking under the dash the ignition switch is working but I will put a meter to it tomorrow. "

There is a relay under the dash on the drivers side it is called the main relay it has 7 or 8 wires in its plug. it is very hard to feel and impossible to see. it is mounted to the left kick panel above the hood release cable. if you feel as far up the kick panel as you can you can feel it. it is bad had same issue on my Honda years ago.

I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX I get power to all the electronics from the car but when I go to turn the car over there's nothing it doesn't even act like its getting power to the starter

It is gonna be a toss up between the starter [not so much] and the starter motor solenoid... Although the solenoid is more expensive... My guess is you should be hearing a good healthy CLICK coming from a working solenoid...
(assuming decent battery ampacity... and good clean connections).

I'd give odds on the solenoid.

You should be able to short past it (as a test)... but don't be sitting on the front fender when the car starts...

Very awkward!

I have a 2003 Honda accord that will not start! Tried to jump battery..all fans and belts were running however car would not turn over...bought a new battery and replaced with old now my car want do a

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

Turn key on, but doesnt even click. battery and starter are fine

This may be due to a bad neutral safety switch, is this car automatic or manual transmission?

If automatic try to start in neutral and if manual try to locate switch on clutch pedal and use a jumper wire to jump connector for switch, NOTE; If switch is jumped car will start in gear with pedal not pushed down and car will take off so this is just as a test not a repair!!!!!, good day

92 honda accord will not even attempt to turn over. Was running fine, turned the car off and then would not start again. battery appears to be fine as all lights are working. now what?

The lights are not really an indication of the battery condition. They require about 5% of the power it needs to turn the starter. Check if the dash lights dim or go out when you try start. The only other ways of testing a battery is with a load tester or a hydrometer which tests the SG of the acid and give an indication of the state of charge of the battery. Try charge the battery or you can attempt a jump start from another vehicle about the same age as yours.

On our 1992 honda accord,we try to crank it and it wont. it barely turns over and the drive light blinks. after we wait a little while we put the car in neutral and roll it forwards or backwards then put...

Your problem could be a worn out battery, bad starter, or bad alternator. If the battery is three years old (or more) I would start there. If you can get the car started - with a jump if necessary - take it to a mechanic and have the starting/charging system checked. Otherwise, pull the battery and take it to a shop for testing.

My 2004 accord won't start. Battery is fine and usually when stater goes out you hear a clicking mine makes no noise. When you turn the key it goes from plenty of juice to no juice no sound. What should I...

You said the battery is fine, does that mean you ran a load test on it? If the battery is fine, it could still be the starter I have had a starter just quit before and not make any noise. I have also had wires come loose on the starter and have had the ground get loose and grungy.

1992 honda accord wagon lx 4cyl. battery good all lights, radio work when i turn the key on but when i try to start nothing, no noise nothing, can u help?

It's probably the starter or cable to the starter. If you can get to it check it with a voltmeter while someone turns the key to engage the starter motor. If you have 12volts DC and it doesn't turn it is the starter.Good luck...
