I would suggest hat you replace the timing belt. The noise that you hear is the belt.

SOURCE: engine or transmission knock / rattle upon

I had the same problem on my 2006 Lucerne and it was the engine mount located on the front of the vehicle behind the radiator.

SOURCE: Car trouble

The main problem with accents is the front exhaust pipe from the manifold, it has a 90 degree flexible pie that looks like steel wool......if you look down from the top of the motor down, you can just see the exhaust shield covering the manifold, and if you trace it down, you can see the very sharp bend. As it ages, the steel woven mesh becomes loose and creates this rattle buzz noise that is very annoying, and becomes worse on acceleration. Unfortunatley it needs to be replaced. No easy fix, unfortunatley.

I hope this is helpful, let me know if any more questions.

Suzuki Jimny making whining noise when in gear even when rolling with clutch not engaged?

Question edited for clarity. Took me ages to work out you meant whining, not winding. I was thinking like 'wind noise', or was it like winding a clock?

That noise is caused by failing or dry bearings. It appears to be a known issue on that model!

I have a Suzuki Jimny automatic 2007. It has 3 buttons to select gear type. None of these are now working.

Start by looking at the fuse box... check all the fuses. Next possibility is a relay.

The Suzuki Jimny Transmission Control Module (TCM) is an electronic circuit component that controls gear shift, TCC lock-up and idle-up according to the signal from each sensor. It is a microcomputer consisting of an IC, transistor, diode, etc. It is installed behind glove box.

1. Ignition switch
2. Transmission range sensor
3. Input shaft speed sensor
4. Output shaft speed sensor (A/T VSS)
5. Shield wire
6. Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
7. Transmission fluid temperature sensor
8. Shift solenoid-A (Shift solenoid No.1)
9. Shift solenoid-B (Shift solenoid No.2)
10. Shift solenoid-C (Shift solenoid No.3)
11. Shift solenoid-D (Shift solenoid No.4) 12. TCC solenoid (Lock-up solenoid)
13. "O/D" cut switch
14. "O/D OFF" lamp
15. Monitor connector No.2
16. DLC
17. To ECM
18. To A/C
19. To brake lamp switch
20. To main relay
21. Terminal arrangement of TCM coupler

Jimny suzuki not engaging, seems neutral always. What seems to be the problem?

welcome to usa forum, we dont have Jimny here.
but car is kind simular to a vitara.
no year stated, so that makes real accurate answers impossible.
no transmission stated. or engine size

is it a stick or auto trans?
is car 2wd or 4wd?

is the lever stuck in nutural.?
or is the lever working right but the transmission fails in all gears and reverse.
mine has stick and 5 speeds, and reverse so has 6 gears to try.
If an automatic? trans. check the levels. per the operators guide do not guess.
and change its filter, if never done.
if automatic, make sure the lever moves its cable and the other end of cable is still attached to the trans lever. on the box.
they both move same amount, (cable drive does that)
if not the cable is bad, or bits there.

Suzuki jimny 2004 model shuddering or death wobble

After searching on the net we saw a blog that said in rrsponse to having the rattle to ring the suzuki customer service hot line so we did. Found out that our jimny had a VIN number that was part of a recall that is still current. We booked in to get the rattle fixed at no cost they said for 12 Jan 2015. However today as we were driving along the steering column broke completely. We got the jimny towed to the same suzuki dealer and will be fixed free of cost next week. Moral of the story is ring Suzuki customer care and don't put it off!

2000 suzuki jimny transmission not moving in gear engin reve up

Hi, my car does not change gear during driving. I am told the transmission is stuck in 3rd gear. Even when taking off from a complete stop, I have to rev the engine before the car moves. Sometimes after a long drive the engine would switch off and only start after a 10 minute break. What could be the problem?
