Pontiac Grand am Don't waste your money on unnecessary sources and unwanted repairs. Get this manual online under $10-15 and get complete guide on whether to repair or not, service it, and how to repair etc.
try this: turn key to on position, do not start. leave key in on position, let car set for 15 minutes then start. if everything else is working correctly, this should relearn the key security. good luck!
Yes the system has to be programmed and you can do this yourself.Just make sure the battery is fully charged and attempt to start then release the key but do not turn it off just release it as if it had started.the security light will remain on for about 10 minutes and then go off. After it goes off.Turn the ignition off and wait 5 seconds. Then turn the key on and start the car.It should start and run now.The body control module has learned the new key.Hope this helps.Good luck.
sounds like your altenator is bad. it will bring down your battery. your serpintine belt could also be bad and slipping. my bet is the altenator went bad and your batteru is now bad also. replace both and you should be good to go
Sounds like a bad starter solenoid, usually cheapest and easiest to replace the starter and solenoid as a unit. It is always best to check for power between the solenoid and the starter with a test light, if the solenoid clicks but the test light doesn't light up you have found the problem in the solenoid.
slide a stick or twig up underneath the steering column which will hold a specialized switch in place. Try the ignition. Should it start, the actual problem in the transmission interlock switch for the transmission [located in the center console] which also protects the ignition from turning on [secondary switch prior to the ignition switch]. What a ***** to have found... took me 8 hours but GM wanted 800$ for the fix.
if you try to start a car while it is in a gear other than P or N the key will turn but nothing happens.
