Windshiel Wiper (passenger side) stopped working

This is for a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, 2 door, 2.2 liter engine, 5 speed.

My passenger wiper quit working, Had my son take the panel off (outside on hood right under windshield). The long rod and short rod came apart. There is a round white thing where they snap together, (the 2 rods), he put them together but within 2 minutes of turning the wipers on and using them, the right one stopped working again. They keep coming apart on the 2 rods.

How do we fix this? I hope I don't need a total new rod assembly. Do you think the round white piece is worn out?

Thank you,
Linda

Take it ot a parts store and have them look at it sounds like there is a clip or pin missing to hold it togetheror look at it after you put it together and see if there is a hole for a pin or a groove for a clip

Passenger Side Windshield Wiper Broken

Hi Jill,
The first thing to check is a 13mm nut that holds the wiper arm in place.See if you can move the wiper arm freely back and forth. There is a nut at the base of that wiper arm,Lift up a cover that is hiding the nut. If it comes loose from being froze from ice or snow. Put the wiper in its rest position and tighten the nut back up.

Passenger Windshield Wiper Not Working

If it were the motor neither side would move. Chances are its the linkage.
You'll probably need to remove the panel under the windshield to access the linkage and check it out.

2003 Chevy Cavalier - Driver side wiper doesn't work

Likely broke the nylon bushing cap on the left side wiper transmission assembly. Best as I can tell, the cap is not replaceable so replacement of the assembly is required. These are available new AC Delco p/n 19120840 about $75, or on ebay used for about $35. ACDelco 19120840 Windshield Washer Transmission Kit. Goold luck, mine's broke too!

2004 Cavalier Wiper Motor

hi, im not sure if they would have a separate motor each because most vehicles have a linkage bar that connects the two wipers to keep them in time with each other. without the wipers on, try manually rotating the paasenger side wiper (be gentle) if that moves easily and the drivers side does not even flinch, then it could be a broken linkage. hope i helped!
