I have the same problem with our 1998 jimmy. We tried removing the inside door panel but it has screws on the top corners so the end gate would have to be down. Unfortunately if the window is up the door can't go down.

The fabric panel recessed with the glass. Now stuck open inside.

What it seems to me is that your latch is stuck in a locked posiiton. If so, open the hatch itself to expose the screws in the inside panel. Once you have removed the screws the pry the bottom and sieds of the panel away from the body using a panel popper or flat screw driver. Then while applying upwards pressure to the panel from the bottom give the upper part of the panel a quick pop with the heel of your hand.. this should release the panel from the body, this will expose the latch itself. Using 10 millimeter socket, remove the latch from the body thus allowing you to remove it in a safe manner.

If you can hear it moving {working } chances are you may be able to push the button and pull it open then its just a matter of adjusting the striker either way or even shim it from that point removing the inner panel is easy a few screws and a few push tabs are all that hold it in place remove screws and pull panel off or even enough by the lock itself usually center between both points and a screw driver should allow you enough access to pop it open then fix as deemed necessary

On my 1997 Blazer the rear hatch class wont open by key or botton so what could i do to fix it

The easy way to open the glass without tearing up the tailgate panel or ripping out your carpet:

Pull back the interior tailgate panel right above the bump in the middle where the latch is. There are no screws or boltsicon1.png in that area, so it should pull away about 2 inches. Then you'll have to reach in and push down the release bar. You should be able to feel for the part that needs to be pushed down to release the glass. Now that it is unlocked, you will be able to open the hatch and the tailgate. Once open, remove the interior tailgate panel, which has one screw on each side.

The failed actuator that needs to be replaced is not all that expensive and can be found at the dealer.

3) Pull up on the drivers window switch until the window reaches the full up position, then CONTINUE HOLDING THE SWITCH UP for 2-5 seconds, then release the switch.

Cant open the rear door of my freelander because the window will not go down

1st you need to get the window down are all fuses good ....if so you can get the inside panel off and gain access to the motor is the motor bad well you'll need to use a test light and determine power to it with a good ground and test with the key in the on position if power is present then make sure the connection is solid and work the window button if the trunk itself is not fully closed the window switch may not work as well after all above is checked remove the bolts from either the window itself 10 mm i believe or 7/16 wrench to remove the glass then you may open the lid and repair as needed and reassemble the glass close the lock_s itself and use teh switch to drop window down and then pull on the release handle to open the locks back up n close lid hatch and ensure the proper working of the window you may need to adjust the window one way or the other for alignment and if working good at this point reinstall the rear panel and yer done

There is a small plunger on the tailgate, see if that is still doing it's job to push the glass out abit. the other thing too is if the two pistons that hold the glass up is weak can do that and if the car has been out in the sun for a while, i find that the weather strip hold the glass down. Good luck and let me know how your did.
