Yes, the service light came on, I took it to a mechanic who said it was the fuel pump, it was changed, when he returned the car to me it was idling high and rough, it almost feels like it is going to turn off, if I accelerate it slowly it won't if I gun it, it turns off, now it is also turning numerous times in order to get the car started. He also stated that the timing chain had to be changed and I also had it replaced. I have taken it back twice and they don't seem to find the answer.

    Thanks!

Hello.........my guess would be to check the spark plugs and make sure they are all fine also check the diodes from the spark plug wires to make sure all pistons are firing correctly......i am getting this from u stating it takes a while to start .........

Engine hesitation up until 45 mph. Rough engine idling, hard to accelerate

Could be the spark plugs! Run AC Delco the factory made these trucks to run best with this brand. Bad gas could cause a truck to run rough sometimes trash in the bottom of your gas tank from runnin' regular. Check your CAT convertor as well sometimes they become clogged and constrict airflow from goin' out the exhaust and back up what needs to escape from the engine. Your airfilter could be clogged as well. Hope this was helpful! Good luck

Rough idle & check engine light on , but runs fine when giving it gas

Take the vehicle to the nearest auto Zone or advance auto parts and ask them to run the code scanner on it. Most likely it is the O2 sensor but I assume it may show you a code indicating a misfire on one of your cylinders as well or may just show that.

1998 Ford Contour rough idle when i turn my air conditioning on

Rough idleing, especialy when the air condition is on, is really quite normal for old cars. I drive a 96 corolla and when the airconditioner is turned on, the car will make a deep whining noise. It should stop when shifted into drive(automatic) or gear(manual) in most cases, it is not a serious problem. However, if you feel the idle is too rough, i would recommend fuel additives designed for highmilage cars. I use fuel injector cleaner. after many uses, my rough idle ended. If after trying this, you find the idle to still be to high or rough, have a talk with your local mechanic. Hope this helps

Hi, i have a 1998 s-10 and i have a problem getting good fuel pressure 41-47 psi but truck won't run i hold pedal to floor truck runs for few seconds but rough any ideas

I had this problem with a 97 s-10 2.2L. Turns out my fuel filter was so clogged that it burnt out my fuel pump. I replaced both and it solved the problem. Are you get proper spark and air?
