I am having problems trying to solve my car trouble problem.Car is a 2006 chevy cobolt and is having hard starts, smell of gas inside and out of the car, spits and sputters, but the gas smell is what is slowly killing me! There is no engine light that comes on so i can not check it that way. I have changed the fuel filter and checked for leaks under the car. Still acts the same. Some one Help!!! Is possibly a fuel pump going bad? If so is that in the gas tank ?
I found my own solution to this...It was a recall that i was unaware of. It was a fuel pump module that cracked and come undone and started leaking.Took it to a chevy dealer and got it fixed.I found my own solution to this...It was a recall that i was unaware of. Auto Zone does not troubleshoot (other than reading codes) or repair vehicles. You have a potentially dangerous situation if you are smelling fuel inside the cabin. You need to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic or dealer. NOW.
could possibly be the shift lock or the key switch might need replaced but in order to do this you need someone qualified because this process is nt easy.i have repaired alot of these at the chevy dealership i work at.
Have you contacted the guys who told you to get a new gas cap? Was a new gas cap a recall? It was on mine. It might be just old gas smell still in car. Does the car still stall? On my car the dealer said there was not a hole in my old gas cap to relieve vaccume pressure, it was a factory recall, but I never did have any trouble with it.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BECAUSE THE CAR RUNS A SYSTEM CHECK AND SOMETHING IS FAILING. UNTIL YOU ADDRESS THE PROBLEM IT WILL KEEP COMING BACK ON( HINT) REPLACE THE GAS CAP IT IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE
Could've burnt up the pump running it dry and filling it up. The cold gas may have damaged the pump when you filled it. Check your fuel pressure to be sure.
