I want to thank all who answered. Frank Gallag He took the time to run down the details for me. I'm single female and so I do the work that I can myself. That help me to do what I needed to do with out all the expenses of hiring someone I couldn't afford. I really appreciate your help and may god bless you all. CIndy P

The basic rule for a running vehicle is fuel,fire,air...this is the what mechanics look at if one of them is missing it will not run...so what you have to do is check if fuel is up to the engine by looking at the fuel line to the injector rails or carb either by loosening a line or pushing in that little bleed valve where the install pressure gauges if you are not familar with that you need someone who is. Next is the fire...a spark check needs to be done usually a spark tester or holding a plug wire to metal the correct way is witha tester as some vehicles can not be tested without one. Air..check the air filter and throttle body where the air goes too. This all is the basics without any of them it wont run and you need to find the cause of what is not working example : no fuel...check filter ,fuel lines and pump. example2: No spark..is coil, wires, timing ok...maybe a faulty crank sensor or computer.

Make sure battery has a full charge. With everything off, use digital multimeter leads across battery posts, the generic spec is around 12.6 volts. Leave the leads hooked up, have helper turn key to crank, what is the reading? If the circuit is closed to the starter, shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts, some makes and models, it shouldn't drop below 10 volts. You get the picture, if drops way low, that won't work.
I'd have to check generator output and battery.

Battery light came on and car wont start now when i shut it off

will engine crank?? if not, recheck battery cable connections. if vehicle ran until shut off, tells me that your charging system kept vehicle running until vehicle was shut off. alternator light can be related to faulty alternator and or bad battery.

My car wont crank its turning over but wont fire i cant here the fuel pump when i turn the key the car ran fine and then i parked it for a few months and now it wont start

Charge battery? How cold/ hot was it when parked? could have water i oil that could seaze pistons, put a little oil down spark plug holes and leave 4 couple days. Try cranking by hand with bar and socket on main pulley. Have rodents eaten your wiring? Have seen this and it wasnt preety or cheap.

My 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix won't start. The lights/battery is working. I can hear the fuel pump ingaging. I've checked the fuses & they seem to be fine. I'm use to looking at manuals that aren't so...

Either the battery is bad or the connections to the battery are corroded and/or loose. The lights may work but that doesn't mean the battery is good. The lights only draw about 20 amperes, the starter draws from 200 to 400 amperes.

If the battery connections are tight and clean, then most likely you need a new battery. A car battery store can test this for you.

Hi
Try to jump start the car.
Put the jump leads on and leave it for 10 mins
that will charge the battery up
then try and start.
Also check the starter motor.
