Rear knocking noise

Whenever I am on an uneven road or I pull out of my downhill driveway, I hear this odd noise that is not SUPER loud but it is fairly noticeable. It is hard to tell where specifically the sound is coming from because It only happens when I am driving. Any things to look at would be greatly appreciated thank you!

I had a similar problem with 03 Dakota Quad Cab. I have the towing package withe positrac rear end. The rear end was giving some pretty good clunks especially noticeable in reverse. Had the rear differential oil service done with recommended additives. Noise is gone. A second problem I had was the lower steering shaft assy u joints were worn. Steering "klunked". Changed out the shaft and klunk disappeared. Good Luck!

SOURCE: very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only

you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.

Loud humming noise coming from the rear/tires? of 07 pt cruiser?

Rub your hand over the tread and try and feel for cupping or uneven tread patterns. This will create alot of road noise. If not, have your wheel bearings checked.

Rear knocking 2000 impala

A broken sway bar will also manifest itself while driving over an uneven or washboard-like road surface. A clanking or clunking sound will emanate from the front or rear suspension. Broken sway bars will emit knocking and scraping noises over potholes and dips, sometimes rhythmically. This happens when a sway bar bushing joint swings freely without support and strikes the chassis frame or control arm. Hope this helps.

CRV has knocking sound coming from rear passenger side

inspect the braking system for warped or uneven rotor surface, as this may cause this noise and uneven pad wear. CV joints also could cause this if the boots are torn, have insufficient grease, are damaged,or have worn bearings. Hopefully this helps
