Whenever I am on an uneven road or I pull out of my downhill driveway, I hear this odd noise that is not SUPER loud but it is fairly noticeable. It is hard to tell where specifically the sound is coming from because It only happens when I am driving. Any things to look at would be greatly appreciated thank you!
I had a similar problem with 03 Dakota Quad Cab. I have the towing package withe positrac rear end. The rear end was giving some pretty good clunks especially noticeable in reverse. Had the rear differential oil service done with recommended additives. Noise is gone. A second problem I had was the lower steering shaft assy u joints were worn. Steering "klunked". Changed out the shaft and klunk disappeared. Good Luck!
SOURCE: very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only
you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.
