I believe you turn key on and hit the gas peddle 3 times fast all the way to floor and that will clear it. within in 10 secs

On my Polo it was inserting the key into the ignition, holding down the odometer reset button on the instrument cluster and switching the car on for about 30 seconds. It used to then be reset.

First of all you need to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-COM or similar) connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM.

My 2001 polo gti has the abs light and the brake

lift up the rear seats (the bottoms, they lift up and slide forward) there should be 2 black connections there, check they are connected. Check your brake fluid level, if both are ok, (the following is just a guess) disconnect battery for about 30-45mins. this should reset the error (if there is one). failing that, VAG-COM it or take it and get it checked properly

Dear Customer,

1
check your sensors 1st,all sensors must be good

2
if all sensors are working good than check your engine firing sequence, some times happens when sequence was wrong,

3
check your exhaust and carborator tuning pin that creates the batter combination for firing in bore for batter performance & less emitions ,so check is it ok or not than go to your nearest service center that havad certified mechanics,

till you read this you had solve this problem definatly,
