Question about 1998 Ford Taurus

I went to turn my car off, with the key but the key switch felt as if it were not connected to something ot the key switch was bad. i changed the key switch, but no change. i can push the to the start position but got nothing.

sound like the tumbler is falling out, when you open the steering column there should be a hole where a small but solid object can go in.. this release the tumbler but only when the key it turn at a certain position you will feel the pin in the hole go inwards then you can slide it could be defective or just need to place back properly..hope this help..

not positive but look in owner manual for a fuel pump reset button i had this problem at one time and that fixed it it is usualy under the dash area somewhere on the drivers side or in a kick panel (decorative cover on the side firewalls inside the cab)....good luck i hope this helps!

It sounds like you may have a bad starter or maybe even a bad ignition switch. Then again there is always the possibility that you may just have a bad connection some where. I hope this helps you out.

Key will not turn in the ignition or door lock

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee will not start. I turn the key and just get a click. Battery has a charge. Problem started on interstate after accelerating. When I hit the gas the RPM went up but thats it. Felt...

Just a click? a solid click like the solinoid(bendix) is engaging? Two possible options, the solinoid is bad, or the starter motor is bad. If you have fair mechanical skill, you can try shorting around the soliniod with something. Be forewarned this can be dangerous. If it is the soliniod, sparks will fly as the starter tries to turn and unless you have something specifically made for it, it is likely whatever you are using will get hot! With the configuration of Jeep starters, you can use a screwdriver..... Or, take it out and have it tested...

Are these interior lights our the headlights? If it is the interior lights, you should pull the dimmer switch and check for a bad connection especially the ground connection on the back side. If that is okay, you may need to buy a new switch. If it is the headlights, check for a bad relay.
