Sorry, don't have one, but lookatit this way: The driver's door master switch has a hot wire to it, probably from a circuit breaker in the fuse panel, and a ground wire from master switch back into cabin to a nearby ground. Then the master switch has 2 wires to each window motor. Depending on the switch's up or down position, each wire will serve as a power signal to the motor or a ground signal back to the master switch. See? The other door switches each have a power feed wire to switch, so that switch can operate its window motor. They all work the same: Switch up or down will change the current flow to motor. The ground current flow always goes back into the master switch and then to that nearby ground.
Have I muddied it up enough for you? Well, sorry, Jim, guess you have to look at a diagram, then.

SOURCE: power window switch wire schematic

Here are some diagrams from the ignition switch out. I can only post up to a certain size picture on here so it may be to small. If you need bigger pictures feel free to email me at and I will be happy to send them to you. I also have a list of the wire colors and what voltage or ground is needed for each wire. This is pretty helpful because I have found through experience that many times the problem is not the switch but the body control module. The diagrams and stuff wouldn't cost anything to you so no worries there. I hope this helps and good luck.

1992 Oldsmobile Silhouette . Previous owners cut off master power window switch pigtail and rigged it. I purchased new switch but need a picture and/or diagram of the wiring so I can wire it. .

Haines manuals usually have very detailed electrical schematics at the back of the book. Buy one on line or go to O'Reilleys and see if they have one for your car.

Where can I find a wiring schematic for the power windows in an 89 Cherokee 4 door?

the schematics are (real) are rear, FSM has it.
why not use the best source first.
my online source is down this mornning... later for sure.

got power to the switches?
all windows dead.? up and down.?
usually the switch grounds the motor and it moves.
so power to the switch is key, as are FUSEs and on many cars
the windows use Circuit breakers, so that fuses dont blow with iced up windows.,.... by design....

Master power window switch

There are Chilton books on every car I think ever made. I would check there, or ask your garage or dealership. Schematics don't usually come with the owner's manual.

No hot wire to power right and left frt windows. relay or fuses ?????

I assume everything else works so start with the schematics and determine which fuse(s) and circuit(s) these power windows are on. Find the fuses. If these are OK, check wires for shorts, breaks and/or loose connections. If they are OK, check power window switches, then you'll probably have to deal with the window motors and connections.

Driver's window

The wiring diagrams for your 2003 GMC Sierra power window circuits are copyrighted material and cannot be posted here. However, I can describe the driver's power window circuit to you.

Battery voltage is provided to the driver's window (master) switch via the ORANGE wire at PIn #2 on the switch connector which comes from the 25 Amp Left Window Circuit breaker located in the fuse block on the left side of the dash.

There is a logic module located inside of the master switch which controls the "Auto Down" feature for the driver's window. When the switch is operated in either the "UP" or "DOWN" position, power and ground is supplied to the window lift motor via the BROWN wire (Pin #1, Connector 2) and the DARK BLUE wire (Pin #3, Connector 2) Thease wires will switch polarity dependin on whether the switch is commanding UP or DOWN.

The schematics show that the ground circuit for the driver's window motor is supplied internally by the driver's window switch module. It is most likely grounded inside the door panel itself - the schematics do not specify. To check for ground, you can test continuity to ground on BOTH the BROWN and the BLUE wires by back-probing them with the switch electrical connector plugged in and the window control switch in the NEUTRAL position. They should both have ground.

When the switch is operated, one will remain ground while the other switches to power.

I needed a wiring diagram for the power window circuit for a 95 Cadililac Deville. The issue i am having is the window goes down but not up. I wanted to see if I could Jumper the wires to see if I can get...

Bad switch or broken wire.

I unfortunately cannot cut and paste the schematic on It doesn't copy over.

I would recommend going to the store and buying the haynes or chilton manual that has the
electrical schematics.

Otherwise, one can check the wires for power with a non powered test light with the door panel removed and the switch contacts exposed.

My 2001 olds aurora the driver side window works but the other windows do not how do you fix

hi, i once owned one of these vehicles, i had a problem similar, the body control module was the culprit. you should check the master switch first though, all of the windows get their power through the master switch(drivers) and if it has a bad circuit, the other window switches will not get power. i can't describe the exact power diagram but if you get a wiring schematic, try to power and ground the appropriate wires corresponding to each window motor from the master switch. if they work when powered manually, suspect the switch. if not, suspect the body control module. a little tip to help you when checking the motors, there will only be two wires to each motor, and during operation, power and ground are applied to each of the wires depending upon which way the motor is to be turned. swap power and ground to each of the wires going to the motors and you will get up one way, and down the other. you may want to have a shop diagnose, it can be hard sometime to diagnose window wiring problems.

Have a 1992 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Tailgate window motor problem

I looked at my schematics, and they don't show a relay. They do, however, show two ground wires coming out of the tailgate window switch. There is a ground wire for the "up" side of the switch, and a ground wire for the "down"side. These would be color-coded black, and I think that it is worth checking to make sure you don't have a corroded /broken ground running from the tailgate switch. If only one grounding wire was broken, the window would operate in only one direction. Both dash and tailgate switches share the same wiring circuit, and these wires are "hot" all the time. It's normal when you get both sides of the motor leads at 12VDC when neither switch is activated. These switches function by switching off one of the two motor leads, and connecting it to ground, thus allowing power to flow thru the motor windings. Of course, reversing the polarity on a DC motor will change the direction of rotation, so changing which black lead is switched to ground gives the up or down direction to the motor.. since you can read schematics, you might check out ebay for a used Haynes manual cheap. hope this helps
