Question about Daihatsu Cars & Trucks
My '91 daihatsu hijet 4x4 van (4 speed manual) makes a high pitched humming sound when pushing on the gas in fourth gear. It sounds like it's coming from the rear of the vehicle. It never makes the sound any other time.
Could be worn universal joint bearing if noise coming from rear end of vechicle.

SOURCE: high pitch sound
Front wheel bearings. We have a 2004 Limited and ended up getting both replaced (at different times) paid for by Ford. We only had 40,000 km on the vehicle at the time and had to fight Ford to cover the cost. The did come through in the end.

Check the power steering fluid if its low it could cause this. Also could be alternator, water pump, ac compressor, or idler pulley. My bet would be on the idler pulley, its the one that keeps the belt tension constant. Remove the belt and check this pulley for slack also spin it by hand.
Good luck, dont forget to rate.
