Question about 1999 Ford Taurus

Open Question

1998 windstar, axod metric transmission, slowing down for red light, light turns green, pushed down on gas pedal, car went into neutral and has been there ever since. Checked all fuses, relays, and solinoids, and get nothing but"error" from my OBD2 reader.Dropped the pan, small amount of shavings, and filter came down with pan,but isn't attached other than an 'o' ring around the neck of the tube you push up into valve body.Trying to avoid pulling that transmission as i understand the good people at Ford engineered a vechicle that you have to actually pull the whole sub-frame out and hoist the engine as well as pull the front axel,cv and all to get the tranny out! are they kidding? can somebody help me ?

SOURCE: Ford 2003 Windstar transmission problem

Windstar tranny problem: just got off phone with Northway Transmission of Queensbury, NY Technician said the torque converter had destroyed itself. the pump drive spline in converter broke and took out fins in torque converter it's going to cost me nearly $1600.00 car has only 45000mi on it and I caught it rather quickly and DID NOT TOW had car moved by flatbed/ramp truck otherwise they would have had to completly tear down transmission. (over $2300.00)

Usually the fuel pressure regulator vac. hose pops off? If not listen for a slight whistling noise (vac leak).

Gas pedal sticks on isuzu trooper

On the next "above freezing" day, force lubricant through the throttle cable and lube all linkage at the engine end and interior.AND BEFORE STARTING for the next while try depressing the gas pedal and make sure it is releasing fully.
If it ever gets stuck again SHUT IT OFF before you damage the engine with high RPM on a cold engine.

98 windstar,3.0,axod metric transmission.Slowing for red light, the light turned green, pushed down on pedal, instead of downshifting, tranny went into neutral and has been there ever since. No

a rebuild is not indicated yet
what is indicated is that the torque converter clutch servo/solenoid lost electric control or th TCM or VSS has failed
form the error code I would be looking at loose harness connections , corroded pins in connections , broken wires to transmission
Possible to get it to an accredited auto transmission shop for the check or diagnosis

1989 lincoln continental signature bangs into 1st gear upon slowing to stop what could be causing this condition

First have the transmission fluid changed and a new filter installed, if that fails to cure the issue time for an overhaul.

Will a transmission #ax4s from 1988 ford windstar fit a 200 windstar with transmission # ax4s

I dont think that will work ....1988 was aod and aode trans

The AXOD-E was renamed AX4S in 1993. In addition to the name change, improvements in the lubrication of the gearset and capacity upgrades were made. A centrifugal piston assembly was implemented in the intermediate clutch position to improve 1st-2nd and 2nd-1st shift quality and an increase in the clutch's durability was made on some models. High energy friction materials were also introduced. A new twin piston torque converter clutch (TCC) was introduced with the AX4S and the AX4N on some models. The transaxle pan on this model will sometimes read "AXOD Metric" since it's based on the AXOD transaxle. The data plate code for this transmission is "L."
The Ford AX4S automatic transmission is a four-speed electronic overdrive transmission used in 1995 to 2000 Ford Windstar minivan. The transmission is also used in 1991 to 2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable, and 1993 to 1995 Ford Taurus SHO models. The AX4S is a second-generation version of the AXOD and AXOD-E transmissions used in 1986 to 1991 Ford Taurus.

Transmition problem

It might not be the transmission. IF your needle is dropping that rapidly, more than likely you need to have your speedometer inspected UNLESS you feel your car **** and rapidly slow down from 100km to 80km. Then it's quite possibly a transmission issue.

IF you step on the gas, and you just feel the normal light push from stepping on the accelerator pedal and your needle is still dropping and moving, have the speedometer cable inspected as well as the speed sensor. One of the two, or even both, could be causing this problem.

~Hope this helps...

Check the bolt pattern,,, use a pice of card board on the transmission and opke out the holes,, then place this on the other transmission and see if it matches..

Depending on the model myou are looking at Yes it will fit, but you will need to rewire the neutralizing switch and the shift selector... as well as adjust the kick down cable.

If you need a transmission Id suggest you get a transmission full kit and rebuild yours..
