SOURCE: Hi, I have a Forester XT premium 2010 auto turbo,

1. My opinion is to check and replace if necessary the knock sensor, (under warranty of course). (Swap a knock sensor by another good one, and test again the car).
2. This "ticking" sound belongs to the engine at full load, and knock sensor must send this information to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which should decrease the ignition advance in order to eliminate the "ticking" noise!
3. The turbocharger is not the root cause of the problem, because the "ticking" sound still occurs when swapping the turbo!

My 2006 subaru forester struggles to accelerate. it chugs along and eventually kicks off.. almost like it needs a good backfire? could be wrong but thats how it feels. i have had it an an auto electrician...

Does it have a turbo? It sounds like it might have a leak in one of the pressurized hoses after the turbo.

Alternatively, an intake leak. Maybe you can use a spray bottle and mist water (or WD40) around the intake gasket and hose connections and see if the idle tone changes.

Why do i have low power on the subaru forester 2003 when its hot?

There is an air sensor on your air filter intake. I would first suggest having this checked for proper function. There are other sensors that can also be checked. Your problem does not sound mechanical

Sidebar: I have always used full-synthetic oil for turbo-equipped automobiles.

No, and add some Trans X slip stop and leak stop, sold by K and W. about 16 ounces, this really helped my Forester, as a lot of them have this issue with the clutch pack in the tranny. sold at most auto parts stores and Wal Mart. take care.

High pitch noise from engine compartment in 2003 Subaru Fores

There is a little beeper that sits just behind the front grill close to the Subaru emblem. It makes the sound you hear when you press the remote to lock or unlock the doors. It sometimes whines for a while but eventually stops. I have had this for a couple of years and it does not appear to have caused any problems.

Loud engine whine (like a jet noise) from 2002 subaru forester

Have you crawled under the vehicle and personally inspected your exhaust line from manifold to tail pipe? The roaring sound usually occur when there is a hole in the exhaust line. I had it happen to my forester before. A hole half the size of a dime made my subaru sound like my old 74 chevy pickup.
