Question about Subaru Forester
Subaru Forester Problems I have a 2010 XT, just noticed a dull whine (in turbo), when accelerating from low to higher revs, say plus 3200rpm. Also lacks power and seems to be using more fuel.. Any thoughts

One of the air intake pipes had come loose. Fastened the jubilee clip back up and it was like having a new car!

1. My opinion is to check and replace if necessary the knock sensor, (under warranty of course). (Swap a knock sensor by another good one, and test again the car).
2. This "ticking" sound belongs to the engine at full load, and knock sensor must send this information to the Engine Control Module (ECM), which should decrease the ignition advance in order to eliminate the "ticking" noise!
3. The turbocharger is not the root cause of the problem, because the "ticking" sound still occurs when swapping the turbo!
