SOURCE: im after the tappet gap settings and points gap

Hi there
Well you have a good BMC there so set the tappets to 12 thou , but check the wear on the rocker bushes first as they have the point of wearing on top and bottom and setting with stact cold some times still rattle so the best way to do them is start run with rocker cover on warm up to thermostat open then remove rocker cover and set throttle to low idle and run andcheck with 12thou push in and out ,if 1 or 2 are noisy
adjust running to 12th.
Points set also to 12thou with points open to any one cylinder and push cam towards the points with your finger and if it opens to 15 (which it will) then set points to 10 as when auto advance opens up 3deg BTDC
the points go to 15 and your spark could give you a problem at pulling power, also auto advance weights in distributor will send points to open up sooner ,reset throttle to 550 rpm and away you go .
Have a good run

For 2011 mini cooper hatchback I bought the racing spark plugs. What is the gap?

The ideal gap will probably not be the one quoted in the Mini data.
You should refer to the spark plug manufacturer's catalogue which will provide the information you need.

.025" it has a distributor and points so the gap is standard for the ignition system
even if it has an electronic ignition system it is still the same as plug gaps did not go to .055" until efi engines were introduced

What is the dwell angle on a 3f engine if point gap is 18 thou

dwell angle is the no of degrees rotation between points closed and points open and for example on a 4 cylinder engine ( 4 lobes =90 degrees the dwell would be around 45 degrees available
there is an adverse relationship between point gap and dwell angle
the closer the points the bigger the dwell and conversely the bigger the gap the smaller the dwell angle
in a distributor the point gap of 18 would have a large dwell angle and that affects ignition timing
in your workshop manual there will be a dwell angle specification and if you set the points at .020 " that will put you close to the dwell angle specification
from there you adjust the gap to obtain the dwell setting
after yo have the dwell set , adjust the ignition timing
there is plenty of information on dwell angle, /point gap if you type in ---dwell angle to point gap relationship--

How spark plug gap Chevy caprice 1989 V8 motor. Set idle up - too slow - stalling out.

Spark plug gap will usually not cause the engine to stall out. This vehicle should be fuel injected. The idle is controlled by the computer. How did you set it up? Have you scanned the computer for trouble codes to point you in the right direction? Check for vacuum leaks.

No spark on spark plug and coil gets really hot and the car doesnt want to start mini 1275

The points may be closed up . This would complete the ignition coil circuit heating the coil but as the points would not open there would be no spark. First check that the distributor shaft is rotating and the contact point gap is set corectly when the rubbing block of the points is on the edge of the distributor shaft cam. From memory the gap should be .45 mm or 20 thou . Failing that the coil could have shorted out internally. Make sure if you replace the coil that you get the correct coil for the car.
