SOURCE: chugging and power lose

Major tune up and change the crank sensor and the camshaft sensor. Also look at the wire harnes for both they have a problem shorting out. Mostly the harness to the crank sensor at or above the oil filter. This wire shorts because of heat and needs to be rerouted and insulated. Also, make sure you have all your gaskets inside of the intake maniflods and throttle body is secure with no air leakes. Change all your senors on this car that seems to be the trouble with this car is the sensors........runjoe

SOURCE: my 2001 pt cruiser will not go into reverse. why?

The problem is more than likely the shift fork. It sits around a slide hub in the tranny and moves it back and forth when shifting in and out of reverse. If the ears on the fork are worn it will not shift it correctly. You will need to take to a tranny shop and have it inspected.

SOURCE: PT cruiser engine light came on what is wrong?

This light tells you that the engine or transmission needs attention. It's not going to blow up if you keep driving it for a little while, if it's still running (red lights, like oil pressure, mean to stop RIGHT NOW).

Just changing the oil is probably not going to make the light go out. The light was turned on by the engine's computer, and indicates that the computer got a bad reading from one (or more) sensors located throughout the engine and transmission. Most auto parts stores can hook up a code reader to your car and read the trouble code stored by your computer. The trouble code indicates what system is not working properly and that may tell you what to replace to fix it. Or it may require more in-depth testing to determine the exact problem.

SOURCE: 2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it.

I took my car to Keller's Auto Repair in Gettysburg PA, He specializes in Chryslers. I have 04 Cruiser with 2.4 Turbo that had the same whistle noise, and check engine light on. He found code P0301. The noise was caused by the #1 Cylinder injector O ring. Check them out on facebook. They will help you.

Roaring in front when going down highway

this vehicle has thermostatic fan when engine gets hot enough under load ie, going uphill it will engage and you will hear a roarining sound which during normal driving you probably wont notice, once the engine cools down the sound will go away.

hope this helps art

2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it. Just began making a low pitched loud whistle sound on acceleration or load/uphill. Gets louder with greater acceleration/load, no decrease in power.

1996 Buick Regal shaking/chugging

If the check engine light is on, most likely it is take it to Autozone or any auto parts store. They can scan it for free and let you know whats wrong. Or you can get a scanner like this one, its good to have. There are more expensive diagnostic code readers. These will allow you to check all sensors and then you can compare the specs with oem specs. I you plan on repairing the car your self I suggest you get a Haynes Repair Manual.
