Question about 2006 Dodge Caravan SE

Open Question

I get a strange sound when I accelarate my caravan. It sounds as if its choppy like squeak squeak squeak, its not too loud but is clearly audible. The sound is apparent only while accelarating and settles down when its gains speed. The sound appears momentarily when I pump the gas (high rev) but again settles down when the accelaration settles. Also there is no such sound when its idling. It does give any codes as well. One mechanic tells me that it could be the transmission pump and he'll have to rebuild the transmission if he has to fix it. He doesnt sound too convincing or as experienced. Can the experts here give me some advise.

SOURCE: Transfer case noise during accelaration

Some play is required for normal operation, it is called backlash, it is more likely that if there is excess play it would be a combination of ring and pinion backlash and transfer case backlash, without hearing it I can't say for sure if u have aproblem or not.

SOURCE: My 2005 caravan 3.3 runs rough at idle but fine

This may be due to needing a tune up...Plugs and Wires ...Spray the wires with a little bit of water in a low light situation, and see if you see or hear any kind of arching out...You may see little blue sparks jumping off the wires and if you do,the wires are bad...Just a quick way to check for bad wires...If wires are ok,Check to see how well the spark plugs look...

Is there grease nipples around wheels of caravan

Is it a brake squeak? Some vehicles have a little metal tab on the brakes that starts squeaking when they get close to needing to be replaced. When you push the brake, the sound may go away due to the pressure being applied. Check your front brake pads.

I'd be looking at rear u-joints and or driveshaft hangar bearing (support that hangs from frame that supports driveshaft) Both can make some strange sounds prior to failing.

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?
